What's the Weather like in Florida in November
November marks the beginning of the drier half of the year in Florida, the United States' most southeastern state. In Miami, which is arguably the most famous city in the state, the total amount of rainfall has dropped to only 71mm this month—significantly less than the 234mm total that was recorded in October. There are 10 days with rainfall this month. The chance that it will rain averages 24% throughout the month and stays basically constant.
While thunderstorms were the most prevalent type of rainfall in the wetter half of the year, now, in November, light rain is by far the most common type. It occurs on 45% of the days with rainfall. Moderate rainfall is the second most observed precipitation type and happens on 25% of those rainy days. Thunderstorms still occur occasionally in Florida, but on no more than 16% of the days with rainfall.
Related to the amount of rainfall, cloud cover is also much lower than it was during summer and early autumn. It now ranges between 31% and 39%.
The day length continues to decrease in November. November 1 is the longest day of the month with 11.03 daylight hours. November 30 is the shortest day with 10.30 hours of daylight. It is this shortening of the days that is mainly responsible for the one-hour drop in sunshine hours per day compared with the previous month. Now, there are 7 hours of sunshine per day, which is the annual low, also recorded in December and January.
When it comes to temperature, November is still quite warm, particularly when compared with most other states in the United States this time of year. The average temperature is now 19°C. While at night the temperature drops to a cool average low of 13°C, in the afternoon it still climbs to a warm average high of 25°C. These temperatures tend to decrease in the course of the month, though, as the weather slowly moves toward the cooler winter season.
Average Sea Temperature
Swimming is still absolutely possible in November—it is all year round, really—with a sea temperature that averages 26°C.
