What's the Weather like in Florida in July

Temperature

Located in the far southeastern corner of the United States' mainland, Florida is a year-round holiday destination. It features a warm climate with long, hot and wet summers and short, warm and dry winters. July happens to fall in the middle of that summer season and is characterised by very hot weather and the occasional thunderstorm.

It is, in fact, the hottest month of them all, together with August. The average temperature is 28°C this month, which is exceptionally high for any destination. At night, the temperatures don't fall below the average low of 22°C, while in the afternoons, they rise up to 33°C on average. Both these average low and high temperatures remain basically constant throughout the month. The surrounding seas are also at their warmest this time of year—the sea temperature averages 29°C now, which is very comfortable, to say the least. The same sea temperature is also recorded in August and September, so make sure you head down to the beach in Key West in July.

Rain

July also falls in the middle of the wetter half of the year and receives about 155mm of precipitation, which is spread out over 15 days with rainfall. The chance that you will experience rainfall in Florida in July increases throughout the month, from 64% to 73%. While this may seem like a lot, you should know that rainfall almost without exception happens as heavy, but short thunderstorms. Those thunderstorms occur on 87% of all days with rainfall.

With plenty of rainfall, no matter how short the rain showers are, also comes increased cloud cover. Cloud cover reaches its annual maximum in July—53% on July 20. However, even despite this relatively high cloud cover percentage, July is one of the sunniest months of the year. On average, a day in July has 10 hours of sunshineApril is the only other month that has such a high number of sunshine hours per day.
