November Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's the weather like in Puerto del Carmen in November

Autumn is a transition season in Lanzarote, as temperatures gradually begin to cool and the dry, arid landscape is transformed by a few millimetres of rainfall in preparation for the comparatively colder, wetter winter months. It's still a good time to visit, as with peak season passed, it is far less crowded and conditions remain warm and temperate with plenty of sunshine hours.

Rain and Average Sunshine Hours

November sees higher rainfall averages in Puerto del Carmen than preceding months, 17mm over five days, and a decreased number of sunshine hours (213 in the month) as winter approaches. However, there are still 7 sunshine hours on average, and 17mm of precipitation is unlikely to affect any plans or disrupt any activities too greatly.

Temperatures

Conditions remain relatively warm and pleasant, with average temperatures of 16C, highs of 18C and lows of 13C. Sea temperatures are beginning to fall, though they are still a quite moderate 21C. Maximum daytime temperatures are likely to be around 24C, and the hottest temperature ever recorded in the area at this time is just over 34C; this can be explained, in some part, by the dust storms (which do raise the temperature considerably). The average temperature on Lanzarote as a whole in November is 21C, with highs of 24C and lows of 17C. Overnight temperatures are likely to be between 14C and 17C in Puerto del Carmen, gradually falling and feeling much cooler by the end of the month.

Cloud Cover

There is likely to be some cloud cover across the island throughout November, though skies generally clear by mid-morning in the southern part of the island. Some thunderstorms are also to be expected.

Dust Storms

November is the middle of the weaker dust storm season on Lanzarote, when dust from the Sahara is blown across the island, often followed by a short, refreshing shower. However, in November any dust storms are likely to be very mild; the wind picks up and the sky will look slightly hazy. They shouldn't impact on any activities.

If you have any conditions such as asthma or other respiratory complaints, which may be negatively impacted by the dust, it might be best to avoid the beach and other outdoor activities at these times, however.

The unpredictability of November weather in Lanzarote, with rain showers, thunderstorms and the possibility of mild dust storms, as well as the more moderate, lower temperatures, make it a poor choice for a beach holiday. November is better suited to sightseeing, or other activities. However with on average 7 daily sunshine hours, while the weather remains fine it is still possible to do a little sunbathing.

Puerto del Carmen Hotels in November

The Relaxia Lanzaplaya Apartments is located in the central area of Puerto del Carmen, next to the main commercial and entertainment centres, a short walk from the beach. With a restaurant, pool bar, two adult and one children's pool, billiards and pool room, TV room, and supermarket, it has all the facilities you would expect from a slightly more upmarket apartment complex.

The Bitacora Club is a similar complex, located in the Old Town, though the apartments are all self-catering. Each apartment offers a separate kitchenette and bathroom, and well-furnished and apportioned. All rooms include satellite TV, with English channels, and a balcony or terrace for sunbathing. The pool area is very basic, but very adequate.

Bars and Restaurants

The family run Restaurante El Golfo serves wonderfully authentic Spanish cuisine and is very popular with both tourists and locals. The paella is excellent, and the owner has different specials on the menu each day, depending on what fresh fish is available.

Vino+ is a great place for authentic tapas. The restaurant is hidden away behind a supermarket and a Burger King, but don't let that put you off! The local wine is delicious and there are a huge variety of delightful tapas dishes on the menu, with a concerted effort made to use as much fresh, local produce as possible.

Alternatively, try Restaurante La Canada. A little off the beaten track, the food is much more international and the restaurant is quieter and more unassuming. The steak is excellent and they serve a variety of fresh fish dishes, which depend entirely on the catch of the day.

Things to do in Puerto del Carmen in November

Not far from Puerto del Carmen, the Rancho Texas Park is very popular with children and families. The zoo has excellent facilities and holds regular sea life and bird shows.

Arecife is a great place to explore, with its winding streets, historical architecture and miles and miles of shops and pavement cafes. One great way to get around, which is perfect for families with small children, is the little white tourist train. The train runs from Charco San Ginés to the bus stop in front of the Cabildo building with an interim stop at Calle Real. The locomotive has three passenger carriages which can accommodate up to sixty people and travel at speeds up to 50km per hour, there's also a TV on board which gives tourist information during the journey.

Once you've seen some of what Lanzarote has to offer, why not take a day trip to Fuerteventura! The best way to do this is on an organised tour, which also allows you to see more of Lanzarote's dramatic volcanic landscape. You can often book a tour at your hotel, or Discover Lanzarote has a trip which can be booked ahead online.

If you fancy something a bit more active and adventurous, there is a Go Karting track quite close to Puerto del Carmen. You can book online, or just turn up and wait your turn. They even offer free transport from the resort, so if you don't have a hire car it's perfect.
