Weather
Mixed - always a bit of a gamble but we got a great day for our climb.Holiday
Not a resort holiday - instead a self-arranged trip to main glacial/mountain area (Vatnajokull). Thoroughly recommend services of Local Guide, Einar Sigurdsson, who took us up the big hill. He's lived and worked there all his life. Exciting to climb amongst still potentially active volcanoes. Trips to ice caves and bird sanctuaries also available at the right times of year.Places Recommended
Apart from the mountain itself, the visitor centre at Skaftafell (national park), the audio visual show at Eyafjallajokull (the volcaon which stopped our air traffic in 2010), and the geothermal power exhibition at Hellingsheid, just outside Reykjavik.Recommend Iceland to others
