International Opera and Ballet Festival 🎡
The magnificent 2,000 year old Roman theatre in Aspendos (near the city of Antalya) will be the site of the annual International Opera and Ballet Festival, ajudged by some European bodies to be one of the Top 10 musical festivals in the world. The amphitheatre itself can sit 20,000. The aim is to preserve the richness of Turkish history and culture and the beauty of its historic structures and traditional songs and dances. Running from June to September, the theatre plaform will host international performers in ballet and opera from Meditarrenean countries, Europe, and certainly Turkey. Works of reknown classical composers Verdi, Puccini, Tchaikovski, and Haendel will be played by award-winning orchestras. It was said that almost 70% of audiences who come for the festival are tourists.
