Visited zanzibar towards the end October beginning November 2013. Weather was magnificent.
Holiday
People are lovely, respectfully humble. Stepping out of the resort is a reality check. People are very poor and we gratefully used most of our spending as tips to the resort staff and people outside of the resort. We found really no begging, mostly people trying to sell something to make a buck or two.
We would go back to experience the lovely beaches and friendly, happy people. Always smiling..... Love u Zanzibar.

Weather
Weather was wonderful. Lovely and hot for sun worshippers. Any rain or cloud was short lived and welcomed by those melting in the sun. The African sun is very strong though and you can burn easily, even if you're hardened sun tanner like me.
Holiday
Very relaxing. Beaches are stunning. People are friendly. This is a safe island as long as you respect the locals and don't walk around flaunting your skin.
Places Recommended
Nungwi beach is the best and has a few shops, bars and restaurants along the beach, other than just your hotel.
Stone Town is good for getting in with the local hustle and bustle, haggling in the markets and wandering around the historic streets. The night market at Forozhani harbour is a must if you like seafood.
I stayed in Matemwe, beautiful, but VERY quiet.

Weather
I went to Zanzibar in October and the weather was great. About 34 to 37 each day, clear blue skies and a gentle sea breeze.
Have been for the last 6 years, mostly in October and the weather has always been brilliant.
Sometimes we had rain showers briefly in the morning, however it cleared up quickly and the aftermoons were clear blue skies and lovely warm sunshine.
Holiday
I stayed at the Serena Hotel in Stone Town. Staff very friendly and hotel to a very high standard, within walking distance of the town.
All very safe to walk into Stone Town during daylight hours. Would thoroughly reccommend it.
Places Recommended
Prison Island is brilliant, lovely beach, giant tortoise's you can feed. Various Spice farms to visit all of which are good.
