What's the weather like in Tavira in March?

Rain

The cold of winter starts to recede in March in Tavira, part of the Algarve province of Portugal, and the rain chances decrease as well. During this month, the area sees only 39 mm of rainfall, which falls over 12 days on average. This means you have a good chance of getting more sunny days than rainy days during your stay. The chance of a sunny day is 67 percent on any given day of the month.

Sunshine Hours

With the increase in average daylight hours, you also get more opportunities and time to be outside seeing the sights of the town. This time of the year gets about 9 hours of sunshine each day. Be sure to bring along your sunglasses and a hat, and as your packing, you'll want to have a light jacket or sweater for the cooler evening hours. During the day, plan on needing long-sleeved shirts and long pants; you could even throw in some short-sleeved shirts for the warmest days.

Temperature

Like nearby Acoteias, the average daily temperature for this month is a very nice 14°C (around 57°F). The lows drop down to 9°C (about 48°F) and you'll see highs getting up to 18°C (about 64°F). In these fantastic spring temperatures, you can sightsee, hike, or just walk up and down the beaches. You might want to stay out of the water, however, as it only averages 16°C (around 61°F), still too chilly for most people to do some swimming.

The chance of rain on any given day is 20 percent, while there is a 33 percent chance of clouds and 40 percent chance of wind each day. The area typically doesn't see much extreme weather, but the highest recorded temperature hit a blistering 29°C (around 84°F). The lowest low went down to almost freezing at 3°C (about 37°F).
