Things to do in New York in November
West Village
West Village is one of the best neighbourhoods in New York to explore. This part of Manhattan looks like it has hardly changed since the 19th century, with cobblestone floors, confusing street patterns and traditional bakeries, but if you make your way to the Meatpacking District in the north end of the village, you'll find modern boutiques and stylish nightclubs.
The two best activities to enjoy here are eating and shopping, with the Magnolia Bakery being one of the best eateries. If you visit on an evening, you'll also find many venues hosting entertainment in the form of live music and stand-up comedy.
The Apollo
The Apollo is another great place to go for evening entertainment in New York. This entertainment venue hosts a wide variety of shows, ranging from music performances and Broadway amateur nights to special celebrity appearances and dance skits.
Several performances take place each week, so check the website's programme to see what's on during your holiday. Keep in mind that tickets sell out fast, so it's best to book in advance in order to avoid disappointment.

Governor's Island
History buffs won't want to miss the chance to visit Governor's Island. A 172-acre island situated in the middle of New York Harbour, this island was previously used as a military base, but today it is a large public space full of cafes, restaurants, shops and green spaces.
The crowning feature of Governor's Island will be the Hills, which will be made out of recycled construction and fill materials. When completed, the Hills will rise 7 to 25 metres above the island and will provide visitors with panoramic views of the lower Manhattan skyline, the New York Harbour and the Statue of Liberty.
Whilst the Hills is being built, there are plenty of other parts of the island to explore, with various pathways, old forts, historic displays, picnic grounds, art exhibits, bike rental services and play parks available.
