    Whale Spotting

    November is the last month before July where Humpback Whales can be spotted off the West coast of Mauritius. There are a number of tour companies in Mauritius offering boat tours, which will take you out into the Indian Ocean where you will be likely to see a variety of whale species including the Sperm Whale, the rare Humpback Whale and even Bottlenose dolphins. This is the perfect day out for animal lovers.

    Mauritius Leisure Villaga Water Park

    Adrenaline junkies will love the Mauritius Leisure Village Water Park, located on the east coast of the island. November is one of the best months of the year to enjoy this activity as the climate is positively hot and rainfall is very low. The Water Park features a number of giant water slides, swimming pools and even a large Jacuzzi.

    Trou aux Cerfs

    Mauritius is an island of volcanic origin, which explains the island's unusual natural landscape. While staying in Mauritius it is highly recommended to visit Trou aux Cerfs, which is a dormant volcano. Today, all that remains is a well-defined cone and crater which can be found 605m above Curepipe. The actual crater is humungous, at 240m in diameter and 80m deep.

    Black River Gorges

    On a beautiful warm day you should definitely head over to the Black River Gorges National Park. The Black River Peak viewpoint offers one of the most breathtaking views on the island.

    To get to the viewpoint it takes approximately two-hours, however, it is a relatively easy walk that starts from the Petrin Information Centre. Along the way you are guaranteed to come across a wealth of flourishing flora and fauna too.

    Every year Mauritians commemorate the anniversary marking the arrival of the Indian indentured laborers to Mauritius on November 2nd in 1834.  Under colonial rule during the time, India's population provided the British Empire with a constant ready course of cheap and mobile laborers.

    The demand for Indian indentured laborers increased dramatically in the country after the abolition of slavery. Today the date is commemorated through a national public holiday.

    Furthermore, Festival International Kreol is held usually held every year from November 27th until December 1st. This lively event celebrates creole culture on the island and usually features dancing, music concerts and literary readings.

    Eid al-Fitr is usually celebrated sometime between November and December. This is a day of celebration amongst the Muslim community, marking the end of the religious Ramadan.
