In the afternoons, the mercury rises to an average high of 3°C, while during the nights, it drops to a freezing average low of -1°C. Both these temperatures tend to decrease even further in the course of the month. Frost during the night is a given in Budapest in December.     6th December 2019

    On December 6th, Santa Claus pays an early visit to Budapest to deliver presents to Hungarian kids, who shine their boots the night before and place one on the windowsill in the hope that they’ll awaken to find it filled with candy and chocolates courtesy of Mikulás. Several Budapest events accompany Santa Claus Day, and even the Finnish Joulupukki pops into the city on his way from Lapland.
