What's the Weather like in Atlas Mountains in November
November is the start of winter in the Atlas Mountains. The weather is considerably cooler than that experienced in the warmer summer months. And it differs greatly from the much hotter climate still experienced in the lower altitude areas of Morocco at this time of year.
While many trekkers still like to climb the mountains at this time of year thanks to the fresh, crisp air and clear skies, average temperatures can get much colder than they have been in the summer or autumn months. However, for those visiting the Atlas Mountains on a budget, the risk of a few adverse weather days ensures an off-peak season that can provide much more cost effective time to visit the region.
Temperature
Even on the more sheltered grounds, average temperatures are likely to only reach 17°C during the day time, while air temperatures and higher altitudes can reduce the warmth experienced even further.
And while day time temperatures can peak as high as 23°C on average in November, lows can also fall to 10°C during this time. And night time temperatures can drop even lower, especially as we move closer to December.
Rain
November also heralds the start of the wetter season in the Atlas Mountains. Though November doesn't experience as much rain as the wettest month of the year in April, it is still expected that approximately 24mm of rain will fall during the month. During this time it is likely that up to 6 days of the month will experience some form of precipitation.
Sunshine
The level of expected daily sunshine hours also falls during November. Most days will enjoy an average of 6 hours of sun in the Atlas Mountains. But while this limits the number of strong visibility hours for trekkers, it does provide a great opportunity to experience the beauty of sunrises and sunsets in the region without having to get up too early or go to bed too late.

Mausoleum in Aghmat
November is a wonderful time to take a visit to the Mausoleum in Aghmat and see the tomb of Al-Mutamid. As a lover of all things literary, when Al-Mutamid became king he became a protector of the bards and the poets across the land. This offered a more lyrical version of Morocco than the one that had been born previously born and the tomb provides a fabulous insight into this incredible chance.
