What's the Weather like in Tenerife South in March

Temperature 

Tenerife South doesn't really experience a winter as we know it and temperatures remain pleasant all year round.

March sees the arrival of spring, with daytime temperatures reaching a very pleasant high of 22°C (72°F) and only dipping to around 15°C (59°F) at night. If you're looking for respite from the chilly UK weather at this time of year, then Tenerife South is the place to be.

You can stretch out on the beautiful beaches of Playa de las Americas, Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos and even indulge in some water sports such as jet skiing and scuba diving. Aquamarina Diving in Playa de las Vistas runs many dives to explore attractions such as the coral reefs and even shipwrecks.

Daily Averages

The average day time temperature is warming up and reaches a pleasant 23°C from the night time lows of 16°C that is a few degrees warmer than the winter lows. Median highs are slowly increasing as the month progresses to a high of 18°C.the mean low is gradually increasing and rises at the end of the month to above 11°C.

Average Sunshine Hours

During March the sunshine hours each day are stretched to 10 hours heading to the summer high of 12 hours and increasing from the winter lows of 7 and 8 hours. The amount of rainfall is restricted to an average of 3 days this month with an average of 15mm falling over those 3 wet days. Precipitation is limited to drizzle and light rain on a few days in the month. Rain is becoming less and less likely as you move towards the dry summer months.

Average Sea Temperature 

The cooler ocean temperature from the winter months is slowly increasing to 20°C and this means that swimming at the beach may not be on the agenda but many of the resorts and hotels have heated pools and spas.

For a great Bed and breakfast experience stay at Villa Las Dunas with its 4 lovely appointed rooms all with ocean views. The breakfast will have something for the fussiest eater and this has one a Trip Advisor award.

Apartmentos Oro Blanco has a children's area and is close to Siam Water Park and the zoos and is just a few hundred metres form the best beaches and the promenades at Playa de las Americas. The pools at Oro Blanco are heated so you can enjoy a swim even when the ocean temperature drops to 19°C. facilities include billiards, table tennis, car and bicycle hire, 24 hour reception, massage service and a hot tub.

A great place to stay is the Apartamentos Caribe with a mini golf course, swimming pool and tennis court and games room. Each apartment has its own balcony and is just a few minutes from the beach. This resort can also rent you a car, electric motorbike and bicycles.

Another place to rent cars is the Hotel Aeropuerto Sur with private bathrooms, swimming pool and games room. Reception is open 24 hours a day and the restaurant servesm home cooked food. Enjoy a drink from the bar or use the BBQ facilities.

Just metres from the Los Cristianos complex is the Sol Princesa Dacil, with a theme based on the popular cartoon and movie, The Flintstones. This is a great place to stay with your children with separate pools and activities throughout the day for the kids. Book an excursion from the tour desk and make use of the beauty salon, gift shop and currency exchange.

If you're looking for a fun family day out then head to Aqualand in Costa Adeje, where kids can have fun on water slides while you relax by the pool! Golf lovers will also enjoy the greens with stunning views across the ocean at Golf Costa Adeje.

Tenerife South Beach for March

Many of the resorts such as Los Cristianos offer you year round water based activities on the beach such as wind and kite surfing and  jet skis .

Playa san Marcos is a sheltered beach perfect for the kids in a quiet cove and fishing village. The sandy cove is protected from stronger surf conditions.

Off the beaten track are 3 beaches, Playa Bollulo,  Playa de el Pozzo and Playa de los Patos, accessed by a narrow track down to the beautiful black sandy beaches. The latter 2 are nudist beaches .

Bars and Restaurants

There are fewer eateries open at this time of year but you will find many offering you some great Canary Island food. You have to try the Wrinkled potatoes; a local food served with spicy tomato sauces and the Gofio flour and toasted cereal mixture served with meaty stews.

For some great Greek food try the El Greco at C. C. Safari Las Americas where you can also find great Italian food at Domus Aurea. If you fancy an Indian feast try Bombay Blue at the same location. For a pizza treat for the kids try Pueblo Canaria Las Americas, known for its pizza, pasta and great coffee.

The beach fronts have several bars and cafes to choose from with Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas offering you Italian cuisine at Bianco and First love, fish and seafood at Scampis Tenerife Fish and Chips. For the tapas and burger lover visit Menta and Limon or the Restaurante Amina.

Things to do in Tenerife South in March

As spring approaches take advantage of the warmer days to visit the greater outdoors such as Mount Tiede National Park, where you can catch a cable car to the summit for some great scenic views of Tenerife South.

Make sure you visit the Loro Parque with its many exhibitions and attractions for the whole family. This place has one a Trip advisor award and is well worth a visit. This parrot based theme park has more than 350 species of birds with over 4000 individuals. Catch one of the four shows at the aquarium featuring dolphins and other marine creatures.

If you're looking for a fun family day out then head to Aqualand in Costa Adeje, where kids can have fun on water slides while you relax by the pool! Golf lovers will also enjoy the greens with stunning views across the ocean at Golf Costa Adeje.

Monkey Park at los Cristianos is another excellent zoo with free roaming lemurs and small monkeys. Feed the animals with food from the entrance and wander around this fantastic exhibition of animals.

For an interesting day visit the Observatorio del Tiede, an astronomical park with several telescopes and a visitor's centre in a dome.

If you are coming for the night life there are several places to go as bars prevail along the Playa de las Americas. Visit Veronica Strip that has several clubs all vying for your attention with DJ's playing music all night long. This is the centre of night life in this part of Tenerife and it is often very crowded.

Siam Water Park is a great place for all the family with its Siam Beach and other water based activities.
