Santa Ponsa, located on the Balaeric island of Majorca in Spain, has the typical Mediterranean climate. May is spring time in Santa Ponsa, so you may expect a warm and pleasant climate. With summer just around the corner, the temperatures are likely to be heating up and it's not uncommon to see an unseasonably hot day at this time of the year.

There can still be some wet weather in May in Santa Ponsa, but any wet spells should clear up quickly and make way for hot and sunny weather once again. Temperatures can still be changeable, though, and sudden drops can result in a colder day, so it is best to pack layers to ensure you're always prepared, no matter what the weather feels like. The evenings also tend to be cooler, but still pleasant, so a light jacket may be necessary for an evening out.

The average temperature in May is a very comfortable 18°C, light years removed from the 9°C average that was observed in January and February. It's also four degrees warmer than it was in April, yet still quite a ways off the annual maximum average of 25°C in August. May is the first month of the year that the nighttime low temperature doesn't fall below 10°Ct now averages 12°C at night. During the day, the mercury rises to an average daily high of 23°C. Both temperatures increase significantly in the course of the month. The average low rises from 10°C to 14°C, while the average high increases from 21°C to 25°Cpending time on the beach is definitely an option in May, especially toward the end of the month. Even afternoon swims may be possible now. The sea temperature averages 18°C, exactly the same as the average air temperature.

May sees a slight drop in total rainfall compared with the previous few months, another sign that summer is approaching. The monthly total amount of precipitation is 30mm and there are 7 days of rainfall. May is the fourth-driest month of the year, after JuneJuly and August. The first part of the month is the wettest by fart dries up toward the end of the month. May 1 has a 31% chance of rainfall, while May 31 only has a 22% chance, a significant decrease. Moderate rain is observed on 42% of all days with rainfall. Thunderstorms are the second-most likely type of precipitation, occurring on 21% of the rainy days. Light rain and drizzle happen respectively on 19% and 15% of the days with rainfall.

After half a year of pretty constant cloud cover, the skies start to become sunnier in May. The percentage of cloud cover decreases from 41% to 34% in the course of the month. In May, the sky is clear 51% of the time on average and overcast only 15% of the time. The length of the days gradually increases throughout the month. May 1 is the shortest day of the month with 13.53 daylight hours and May 31 is the longest with 14.46 hours of daylight.

This decrease in cloud cover and lengthening of the days are responsible for the increase in daily sunshine hours. The average day in May has 11 hours of sunshine, which makes it the fourth-sunniest month of the year, after the three following months.
