The temperatures are gradually increasing throughout the month and towards the end of May there is a greater chance of temperatures reaching the higher averages. The highest recorded temperature in May was 380C in 2001 and the lowest temperature on record this month was in 2003 when the thermometer only reached 60C.
Precipitation becomes less likely later in the month as the dry summer months get nearer. The average rainfall in May is 18mm during the month with rainy days experienced in around four days throughout May. This festival has a wide range of activities from animal petting zoos to kite flying demonstrations held at Westside Regional Park.
