What's the weather like in Salou

Salou in Spain enjoys mild weather during January. If you're looking for an escape from the bitter winter winds, Salou is a great choice.


Daytime average temperatures reach a high of 13°C (57°F) but only fall to 4°C (39°F) at night with an average temperature of 9°C (48°F) making it a very comfortable time to visit.

Although January is considered Salou's coldest month, it is rare for the temperature to drop below zero. The highest recorded temperature in January (1998) has been about 20°C (69°F), with the lowest recorded temperature (2011) at 0°C (32°F). The weather stays rather balanced throughout the month; early January starts in the low teens but reaches into high teens by mid-month. This pattern reverses itself by the end of the month with a few 20°C highs sprinkled in.  The weather for January is very consistent; a cloudy or rainy day is expected once or twice a week, but overwhelmingly the month is marked by sunny days.  The coldest and warmest temperatures stay between 12°C and 13°C (55°F-57°F) making the high and low points of the month unnoticeable.

For a real experience with your meal, you must go to the House of Illusions Dinner theater. This amazing mystery theater earned the Certificate of Excellence in 2014. You and your family will be entertained by close-up magicians during a pre-theatre parlor show. Comedians follow, amusing you with a variety show filled with audience involvement. The second half of the show takes you on a journey of manipulation, live mind reading and amazing slide of hand tricks. The night ends with stunning illusion tricks making the impossible possible. Enjoy this all in a beautifully decorated candlelit theatre while sipping wine and dining in style. Dinner and all inclusive drinks are included in ticket price.

Things to do in Salou in January

Avenida Jaume I

There's something for everyone on Avenida Jaume I. Beautiful ornate buildings neighbour souvenir shops. Hungry travelers can fill up on something quick from McDonald's or sit down at a steakhouse. The Jaume I monument towers over Salou's main promenade, celebrating the date of 5 September 1229 when King Jaume I commanded a Catalan fleet to conquer Majorca.  Opposite the attractions, a tree-lined beach follows the road. This side of the Jaume features the Ornamental Fountains which run the entire length of the promenade. There are three main fountains to enjoy; the Cybernetic Fountains dance to music at selected show times and feature lights, the Labyrinth has water jets and sprays for the whole family to enjoy and the Luminous Fountain plays over 210 combinations of water and lights choreography. 

The Paseo Maritimo

If you're ready to enjoy a beautiful walk on the pier, head to The Paseo Maritimo. This attraction runs parallel with the Avenida Juame and the beach and a visit here is the perfect way to end your day. The Paeso is lined with fountains and leads to the harbor. Although walkers may have to share their stroll with cyclists and rollerbladers, the view makes it well worth it. This is a must-see when you're in Salou no matter what time of year.
