It's accessible by taxi (but not bus). There are no toilet facilities but showers are available and there is a café that overlooks the beach and serves food. The water is shallow, making it kid-friendly, for quite a ways out.

Torre Vella

Built in 1530 by Archbishop of Tarragona Pere Cardona, The Old Tower, or Torre Vella, was aimed to protect and warn the city of pirate attacks and looting. Today, Vella de Salou is an art center devoted primarily to the painting exhibition. The tower retains its original exterior with the badge of Pere de Cardona on its façade. New "points" that connect the two buildings were added in the twentieth century. August hours are from 19h to 22h. Admission is free.
