Breaking do Verão – Lapa 💃🕺
This street and break-dance festival brings national and international B-boys and B-girls to Rio’s Lapa neighbourhood. Competitions, open battles, workshops and live music occur across plazas and side-streets. The event includes youth participants, DJ sets and awards for top performers in the dance community.

Carnival Street Blocos 🎉
Hundreds of registered blocos gather crowds in neighbourhoods including Ipanema, Santa Teresa, Lapa and the Centro. Bands lead street parties with percussion groups, brass sections and themed costumes. Routes close to traffic, and residents and visitors follow the bands through narrow streets and coastal avenues.

Summer Beach Carnival for Tourists – Ipanema 🦹
Tourist-oriented beach carnival events take place in Ipanema and Leblon, with themed parties, beach clubs, music stages and food stands on the sand. Visitors join pool-side and beachfront venues for DJ sets, dancing and beach volleyball tournaments. Activities stretch through day and night in warm early-January conditions.
