Things to do in Los Cristianos in May

This spectacular water park is basically a giant playground, not only for children but also adults. The park features a variety of adrenaline packed water slides from the exhilarating Jungle Snake to the relaxing Mai Thai River.

Due to Tenerife's interesting volcanic history, the island boasts a unique natural landscape, which can also be discovered underwater! Diving Tenerife offers scuba diving tours and lessons to some of the best diving spots found off the coast of the island, including breathtaking volcanic columns, which are teeming with exotic marine life, including sea turtles and Moray Eels.

Another natural attraction that is really worth visiting in Tenerife is the Cueva del Viento-Sobrado. This spectacular natural underground tunnel runs for over 11 miles, featuring three different passage levels which are made up of numerous intriguing lava formations. The cave was naturally created by lava flows from Pico Viejo, found next to Mount Teide. Guided tours take place from Tuesday to Saturday and advanced booking is highly recommended.

The Masca Valley is one of the most stunning attractions in Tenerife. The Masca is a small mountain located by a traditional village, located to the west of the island. The Valley is thriving with flora and fauna, including cypress and palm tress. The trail from the village, down to the gorge and then to beach is one of the most popular routes, however, it is rather strenuous, so if you feel in the mood to tackle it, make sure to bring along plenty of water and appropriate shoes.

Dates for the diary

The festivals of Los Cristianos are not designed for tourists' entertainment the way some are in more popular destinations. Since many consider Los Cristianos a place to relax and "lay low" in the Canary Islands, its festivals tend to be more authentic and less public.

This is the case, at least, with the Dia de La Cruz, or Day of the Cross, held in the beginning of May. Citizens elaborately decorate crosses all over town with eye-catching adornments.

This holiday coincides with Tenerife's anniversary of being founded, so the celebration is especially festive there. Santa Cruz holds costume parties, and Puerto de La Cruz has an amazing fireworks show.
