What's the Weather like in Kos in October

October is the month where rainfall and cloud coverage officially hit their points of no return as it contains the steepest climb of the year for both. This means the skies will become less clear and the temperature will drop to an average temperature of 19 C (66 F) along with an increase in the amount of days with rain. Although these conditions may not seem favourable, October still has relatively decent weather compared to the rest of the year so most locations are still open until the end of the month.

Temperatures

The beginning of the month sees the highs and lows at around 25.5 C (78 F) and 18.8 C (66 F) coming off of their drop in September from the warm season. Probability of rainfall around this time begins its steep climb at 14 % as chances will rise daily until the end of the month. The cloud coverage is on the same trajectory as the rainfall, starting the month at 40 % (partly cloudy) and continuing its climb daily throughout October.

As mid month comes around the highs fall to around 23.8 C (75 F) as they also begin a steep fall into the cold season. The lows mimic the same fall of the highs coming in at around 16.6 C (62 F) during the second and third weeks of October. Rainfall during the middle of the month has risen significantly since the beginning coming in on average at around 25 % chance of rain. Cloud coverage during mid October is around 44 % (partly cloudy) as the skies become cloudier.

As the month progresses to its end the temperature continues its fall as the highs finally fall below 21 C (70 F) for the first time since April coming in at around 20 C (68 F). The lows also hit a low mark falling below 15.5 C (60 F) to 14.4 C (58 F) which is also the first time since April so if visiting in October try to aim for the beginning and middle of the month as weather conditions only decrease from there. Rainfall ends the month at just above 30 % chance while cloud coverage hits its cloudier period on the 26th ending the month at 47 % (partly cloudy).

Rainfall

The amount of rainfall in October is 59 mm divided unevenly into 6 days out of the month making for a fairly minimal amount around this time and especially at the beginning of the month since probability of rainfall rises throughout October. Surprisingly the average sea temperature in October stays close to temperatures seen in the warm season at 23 C (73 F) so swimming and water activities are not totally out of question during this time of year.

Cloud

As the cloud coverage rises steeply throughout the month to its cloudier period at the end of October, the daily hours of sunshine fall to 9 hours daily. This is a 2 hour drop from the previous month and a drop which continues until the end of the cold season so if you are looking for some sun, try the beginning of October for the greatest chances of sunshine.
