Djerba Weather January Averages, Tunisia
January is the coldest month of the year in Djerba. But with average temperatures of 13°C, the area offers the perfect antidote to the freezing weather back home.
Consistently mild temperatures mean there is never a bad time to visit Djerba. And though the winter brings with it a higher chance of rain, there are only an average of 8 days that will see any form of precipitation. And only 30mm of rainfall are likely throughout the whole month. This ensures there is still plenty of time for the sun to shine. And an average of 23 days when it won't rain at all.
The large amount of sunny days forecast, even through the coldest month, bring average high temperatures of 16°C throughout January. Despite this, record highs of 28°C were experienced back in 1997, proving that even in January there is still the opportunity for plenty of heat.
And thanks to the beautiful Mediterranean climate, the region enjoys an average of 10 hours of daily sunshine throughout this month. That is more than three times the amount of sun expected in London during the same period.
Sea temperatures do fall during the winter season, with the sea only cooler by one degree in February than it is in the month before. This means the average 15°C may not be sufficient to get you swimming in the sea. But the conditions are perfect for the range of water sports offered throughout the year.
While day time temperatures are at their lowest, so too are night time levels. Any visitors to the area are likely to experience average lows of just 9°C throughout the month. This means a light jacket or cardigan is beneficial so that you can still enjoy the vast array of al fresco dining that is always popular across the island.
Where to Stay
The Fiesta Beach Club Djerba offers excellent value for money all year round. But in the lower season of January, there are some very good deals to be had. A full schedule of activities throughout the year keeps all ages entertained. The food is delicious, the cocktails are well blended and all areas are kept immaculately clean. Fun for all the family is exactly what you'll find at the Fiesta Beach Club Djerba.

The magnificent views and wonderful terrain across Djerba offers the perfect location to enjoy a spot of horseback riding. The staff from Ranch Adada will come and pick you up from your accommodation and take you to one of the two sites they have on the island depending on the type of experience you choose. Opt for a beginner's tour that will take in some of the most beautiful views. Or for those that want a taste of adventure, select a beach front trek or a sunset ride to truly appreciate the delights of such an activity. It's a fabulous way to spend the day in Djerba and a great way to get back on that horse.
It wasn't that long ago that L'Eglise Saint-Joseph was closed as a church and became a gym. But luckily a polish born priest saw the beauty of the building and has now taken it back to its glory days. This fabulous Catholic Church, situated in the heart of Houmt Souk, is a wonderful building to appreciate. Join in one of the services on a Saturday or Sunday which are usually conducted in multiple languages. Or simply enjoy the character of the architecture of this sensational building. Admire the mosaics, the artistry and the excellent craftsmanship that has all now been lovingly restored.
Restaurants and Nightlife
Delice Resto has a reputation across Tunisia for providing high quality haute cuisine to all of their guests. And it is definitely a reputation that is warranted. The menu is varied, the flavours are intense. And there's always a bottle of something special on offer to wash it all down. Even in the middle of January the welcome is very warm. And if the restaurant is quiet, the chef may even come and join you. On warmer days sit out on the terrace and enjoy some al fresco dining. You may have to walk a short while to reach Delice Resto, but the effort will definitely be worth it.
