July is in fact the most crowded month of the year at Walt Disney World due to schools being off for the summer, especially on Independence Day, which is on the 4th of July when crowds reach an all time high. July is also one of the hottest months of the year with an average temperature of 28°C and an average high reaching 33°C. Whilst the lowest average temperatures can decrease to 23°C. It can also get very humid in the summer months with an average of 58% from the early afternoon. July also receives a total of 10 hours of sunshine per day on average. In fact even with all this hot weather, July is the wettest month out of the whole year where rainfall can reach 196mm throughout the whole month.
The hurricane season also officially starts on the 1st of June through to November 30th, however most hurricane activity takes place from August and October and it's very unusual for Disney World to be effected by a hurricane, but it's more likely for the resort to receive afternoon storms.
Things to do
The iconic Magic Kingdom Theme Park is the best place to start off your holiday at Disney World. This magical park is solely dedicated to enchanting fairy tales and the world's most beloved Disney characters including Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Why not visit the New Fantasyland, which has recently been expanded to nearly double its original size! Two new themed areas have been added including the Enchanted Forest; dedicated to the popular Disney films The Little Mermaid and Beauty and The Beast. There's also the addition of the Storybook Circus, which transports you to another era where you come into contact with the likes of Dumbo the Flying Elephant. But what you must do whilst at the Magic Kingdom Theme Park is visit the renowned Cinderella Castle, located in the heart of the park.
If you have always wanted to know what goes on behind the scenes of a blockbuster movie head to Disney's Hollywood Studios, which features backstage tours and exciting live shows. The American Idol Experience is perfect for anyone who's ever wanted to channel their inner Beyonce or Michael Jackson. Step on stage and perform in front of a live audience. Who knows, you may even win 'best singer of the day'. Or if that's not really your thing, go to Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show, which guarantees hair-raising stunt shows involving motorcycles and jet skis, and there may even be an appearance from Lightning McQueen.
Independence day is a very big holiday in the USA so from July the 1st until the end of the week Disney's Celebrate America - A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky takes over the Magic Kingdom Theme Park. Don your red, white and blue and come and witness one of the best fireworks shows of the year over at Cinderella Castle.
From June the 9th to July 27thSounds Like Summer Concert Series takes place at Epcot Theme Park to celebrate the height of summer! Enjoy some live music played by some of the best tribute bands including Stayin' Alive, a tribute to the BeeGees and 2U, a tribute to the renowned U2.
Time to celebrate
Head over to Epcot Theme Park to see IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, a spectacular fireworks and water show nightly at 9pm. This breathtaking 14-minute show portrays the story of how earth has evolved over time from the big bang to celebrating the famous faces and achievements of recent years.
On the other hand Wishes Nighttime Spectacular takes place in the Magic Kingdom Theme Park at 10pm. This world famous fireworks extravaganza is the biggest of them all and features all your most beloved Disney characters such as Pinocchio, Cinderella, Ariel and Peter Pan.
Eating and drinking out
If you fancy going to a buffet look no further than The Crystal Palace, located at Magic Kingdom Theme Park. This Victorian style restaurant is dedicated to the characters from Winnie the Pooh including Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore. Choose from the American classics like sirloin steak and Atlantic salmon. Or if you decide to eat here for breakfast they offer a wide range of freshly baked pastries and even breakfast pizza! Another option to think of is The Plaza Restaurant, which serves more affordable dishes such as deli-style sandwiches and succulent burgers.
Indulge into some traditional Italian cuisine at Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano,found at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park. Choose from all the favourites such as brick-oven-fired flatbread pizzas to Mama's signature dish - Chicken Alla Parmigiana. Whilst another option to think of is The Hollywood Brown Derby, which serves contemporary American cuisine including Spit-Roasted American Bison and Sautéed White Shrimp. Also, don't forget to try the famous Brown Derby Cobb salad, which uses the same recipe as the historic California Brown Derby restaurant.
Where to stay
Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa is located just across the road from Downtown Disney, so you couldn't get a more central location! This hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service to all four Disney Theme Parks and the two Water Parks. Another more affordable option is the Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort Hotel, located just four miles away from the Downtown Disney Area. This hotel features an Official Disney souvenir shop, a heated outdoor pool and an arcade room for the kids.
If you would rather stay at self-catering accommodation look no further than the Blue Tree Resort at Lake Buena Vista. This cosy hotel comes equipped with en-suite kitchens, four outdoor pools and a miniature golf course. A more expensive option would be Disney's Contemporary Resort. This luxurious ultra-modern complex boasts views of Cinderella Castle and Space Mountain. You will never get bored staying here as the amount of facilities are endless including tennis courts, a health club and waterskiing on the nearby lake.
