Chestnut Festivity

At the end of October or beginning of November look out for the Chestnut festivity in Prases and Elos. These two villages produce the finest Cretan chestnuts and over the course of several days this festival celebrates the chestnut through a host of different activities, including outdoors fiestas, communal cook ups and free tsikoudia drinks.

Tsikoudia Festivities

The Tsikoudia festivities also take place during November in several locations across Crete including Neoria - Chania, Loutraki Kidonias, Kandano and at the Lake of Platanias. Tsikoudia is the traditional Cretan alcoholic beverage, it's crystal-clear and very strong, produced by twice (sometimes thrice) distilled wine and is much loved by locals and tourists alike.
