What's the weather like in Cozumel in October
that put you off having a wonderful time in Cozumel, though.
The average temperature is a splendid 27°C (73°F), with crisper nights at low ends of 23°C, when the cool marine breeze starts to blow from the north. Expected highs are bound to still exceed 30°C, about a degree lower than September. Slowly but surely the island begins to cool down just a little, which takes away some of those fastidious side effects of the generally hot and humid climate of Cozumel.
Although you will get plenty of sudden storms and some consistent sky movements, the days have up to 8 hours of glorious sunshine, with a slightly increasing 12% chance of full sunny days. Humidity drops down to low and high averages between 65% and 90%, giving way to slightly less oppressive dew points of 20°C to 25°C.
Rainfall comes down to cca 182mm, with up to 8 days of cumulated showers, and a persistent 30% chance of rainy days, which makes it still one of the wettest months. As previously mentioned, this is still hurricane season, so the island will be subject to some powerful winds, and sudden and sometimes aggressive storms.
Wind speeds hike up to 7m/s on average, with an impressive 24% chance of windy days. The winds also now come more from the northeast and east, leaving the southern currents to tone down to barely a breeze. The air gets slightly chillier, making it much easier to tolerate the high humidity.
Chances of cloudy days stay strong at 31% on average, as part of the wet and stormy hurricane season. You can still enjoy some wonderful sailing and parasailing adventures, as long as you keep an eye out on the local weather updates.
The Caribbean Sea keeps itself gorgeous and still warm, at 29°C (84°F). Chances are you'll get to cool more by the water, thanks to the winds, than in the actual water. Nevertheless, the constant flow of tropical undercurrents makes the sea perfect for deep diving comfortably down to 60 feet.
Cozumel Hotels in October

This is a wicked 4-star deal, including a generous breakfast buffet and free Wi-Fi all over the estate. The suites are all equipped with air conditioning and cable TV, and there is a nice outdoor pool waiting for you.
Another great pick is the super stylish Presidente Intercontinental Hotel, a 5-star extravaganza offering a wonderful deal for just £179 per night. This is a stunning and beautifully designed resort, boasting a superb beachfront with Chankanaab Nature Park just around the corner, 2 outdoor pools, a spa & fitness center, 2 tennis courts plus a certified dive trip available. Cozumel Beaches for October
Cozumel has a string of stunning beaches to choose from, some natural and some man-made. The west coast is the most popular, with a wide variety of seashore to pick from: white sandy slices of paradise or rocky limestone with deep clear waters, the latter being the perfect spots for snorkeling and scuba diving.
One excellent example is the PalMar Small Snorkel Beach Club, just south of San Miguel. Its mixture of white sand bordering the rocky seabed makes it the obvious choice for both dedicated beachgoers and adventurous divers; this place is also great for swimming and beach diving, and there is also a sweet water pool and a volleyball court to enjoy, along with a restaurant and hammocks under the palapa shades. You can also visit Playa San Francisco, which isn't all that great for snorkeling due to its sandy seabed, and swimming is always supervised by lifeguards due to some shifty underwater currents, but it's great for beach diving, jet skis, parasailing and even kayaking; there's also a pool and a restaurant for your enjoyment, as well as some resort courses.
Bars and Restaurants
For good food, and we mean really good food, try Le Chef Cozumel, which serves dinner and lunch, and also has afterhours specials. It's best known for its wide selection of light snacks and salads, as well as its more consistent main courses, serving a variety of Mexican and international dishes. Another great spot is Frenchies, the legend of freshly cut fries and its rock-star Frenchie burger; the toppings are out of this world and this is clearly the haven for the most delicious fries on the island. And if you're looking for authentic and out of this world tacos and pozoles, then Los Otates is the place for you to try next; the Tacos al Pastor are the most popular on their menu, which is a combination of hearty and tasty Mexican dishes.
If you want to shake a leg and grab a night cap somewhere, you can stop by one of Cozumel's few night clubs the Neptuno Dance Club is a 2-level venue with a state of the art sound system and flat screen TVs scattered all over for visual exuberance, and the discotheque runs till the late hours on some very reasonable bar prices. Expect a lot of fun and dancing to electronic and Latin house rhythms, as well as Billboard Top 40 hits. If you're more into enjoying a drink over a good burger, and if you like rock music, treat yourself to an evening at the Hard Rock Café Cozumel's is probably the smallest you'll ever see, but its wonderful atmosphere immediately compensates, along with a splendid original ceiling mural with an underwater scene.
Things to do in Cozumel in October
Most of October is a mixture of hot sun, winds, clouds and sudden showers, between which you will find plenty of time to engage in exciting marine activities. If you're a certified diver, you can go on the PADI Certified Scuba Diving tour, which starts with a 25 minute boat cruise, followed by three intense and extremely fun diving and snorkeling sessions, giving you a chance to explore stupendous coral heads, shake a fin with brightly colored tropical fish and sea turtles, and even swim through underwater tunnels! But remember, you'll have to show your C-Card if you want to enjoy this adventure, which starts from Playa Uvas and takes you deep into Chankanaab Nature Reserve.
You can also engage in a £20 ATV tour with a professional guide to assist you. Revel in the adrenalin rush as you drive a super fun and automatic ATV down rocky roads, through tropical jungle and across white sand beaches, enjoying the scenic views as you race along the coastline. This tour also offers an Inclusive Beach Day Pass, giving you access to a scrumptious all-you-can-eat buffet and open bar.
Another excellent tour to take in October is the East Coast Scenic Bike Tour, which also includes a traditional Mexican lunch at Rastas Bar Beach Club. 16 miles of splendid beach await for you to ride along, on a dedicated paved bicycle route, just enough for you to fully take in the beauty and magic of this wonderful island. And if the bike tour hasn't completely drained you, then don't miss out on the opportunity to visit the Mayan ruins of San Gervasio and El Cedral, two of Cozumel's oldest vestiges of fascinating ancient culture. And don't forget, on October 12th, the Mexican people celebrate the Day of the Races, so make sure you check the local websites closer to that date in order to find out more about the events related to this day.
