Weather
Best months to go to Cairo are from mid Sept through to March.. Weather is hot but bearable so you can enjoy the sites..If you decide to take a trip to the pyramids you wouldn't want to be climbing into the centre of the pyramid in 100 degree heat as its far too humid.
Wear cool comfy trousers (incase you decide on a camel ride while you are there).
Holiday
Stayed at the Concorde El Salem Hotel in Helopolis. Friendly professional staff, clean & luxurious, great food. The location gets top marks, so near to all amenties, and yet tucked away in beautiful gardens & pool, great facilities (massage etc,) far from the main roads and crowds.. the air is fresh, (no exhaust fumes). Transport into the city is readily available. I've stayed here twice and always enjoyed it.
