1. Bonaire diving holiday
WeatherOn both occasions it was HOT. The occasional sudden showers were actually quite pleasant but two minutes later you wouldn't even know it had rained!
The water and air temps were both about 30 degrees.
Diving was done in a bikini and t-shirt.
HolidayBoth times we have been have been FANTASTIC!
It must be the friendliest place in the world. For divers it's unbeatable - no other water sports allowed.
Visibility is around 20 - 30 meters and it's great for snorkellers too. The corals and fish are really beautiful.
It is fairly quiet here with just a few restaurants and bars in the main town of Kralendyk.
Although it is Dutch Caribbean, everyone speaks English and money goes a long way.
Downside? there are mosquitoes aplenty - I recommend 'Off' - the local repellent - and plenty of it!
Places RecommendedWe stayed at Yacht Club Apartments: a small, fairly quiet complex about 1 mile from the centre of Kralendijk.
Has excellent restaurant, bar, pool and wet room for dive gear. Very friendly. Really nice place to stay.
For divers try Yellow sub/Dive friends close by at the edge of the sea. We did our open water there and they were brilliant.
The second holiday we had a really good value dive package with them. They are so helpful and friendly it made the holiday!
The donkey sanctuary is a must - buy some food to feed them - we have never laughed so much.
The national park is beautiful with hundreds of Flamingoes at the right time of year.
