Fallas de San José 🛐
Neighbourhood groups build large papier-mâché sculptures satirising politics and society. Bonfires, fireworks, and music fill the streets leading to the final Cremà, when the figures are burned on the night of 19 March. Alicante’s celebrations are smaller than Valencia’s but share the same fiery spirit.

Dia de San Jose (St Joseph's Day) 🛐
St Joseph's Day is celebrated on March 19th in Western Christianity. This is the principal feast day of Saint Joseph, the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On this day the Fallas made the day before are burnt to the ground.

Holy Week (Semana Santa) 🛐
Alicante’s Holy Week is among the city’s most solemn and photogenic events. Dozens of processions wind through the old town, featuring ornate tronos, hooded penitents, and brass bands. The Good Friday and Holy Wednesday processions in Santa Cruz are especially atmospheric.

Alicante Running Day – Port of Alicante 🏃
A non-competitive running event encouraging fitness and community participation. Routes of various lengths start and finish near the harbour. Participants enjoy live music, refreshments, and a festive family atmosphere beside the Mediterranean.
