What's the Weather Like in St Lucia in February

The weather in St Lucia in February is very similar to that of December and January relatively cool temperatures and light rainfall compared to the rest of the year. During this month, the average temperature for the island is 26.5°C (made from highs of 29°C and lows of 24°C). This average temperature stays the same throughout the month.

Temperature

Even though it only happens on an average of 10% of days, temperatures have been known to rise above 30°C and drop below 23°C in St Lucia in February. The highest temperature ever recorded on the island at this time of year is 32°C, whilst the lowest temperature ever recorded here during this month is 17°C.

Since February is one of the coolest months of the year in St Lucia, it's perfect for travellers who really want to visit the island but can't stand high temperatures. If you love the heat and would prefer to visit when the temperatures are at their highest, forget about February and visit during August or October instead. However, if you choose to visit St Lucia in February, make sure you bring light and airy clothing, suntan cream and some waterproofs to protect you from the elements.

St Lucia Beach for February

Marigot Bay is found on the north western coast of St Lucia and is one of the most popular beaches on the island. Here you'll find soft white sands perfect for children to play and adults to relax, lapped by warm shallow waters, ideal for swimming or snorkelling. Sun loungers and parasols are available to rent, or you can seek some shade under a palm tree for free. There are various kiosks set up along the beach which sell food and drink throughout the day, as well as a handful of restaurants along the promenade which offer a more sophisticated, although expensive, dining experience. There are no toilets on the beach, so families travelling with young children might want to choose an alternative location.

When it comes to snorkeling in St Lucia, Anse des Pitons is one of the best places to do it. This beach can be accessed via the Sugar Beach Resort or by boat and is in a small crescent shape, made up of white, sugar-like sand that was imported to cover up the original black sand. The waters here are known for being remarkably calm, shallow and clear, allowing scuba divers and snorkelers to see all sorts of tropical fish very clearly. Since this section of the island forms part of the National Marine Reserve, you're sure to see all sorts of aquatic wildlife. Sun loungers, shades, toilets, food, drinks and water sports are all available here.

Bars and Restaurants

For top quality seafood in St Lucia, stop by Buzz Seafood and Grill in Rodney Bay. Located just back from the beach, this restaurant is open every night from 5pm (except Mondays) and specialises in seafood, with yellow fin tuna, swordfish, red snapper, mahi-mahi, prawns and lobster all appearing on the menu. For those who don't love seafood, there is an equally great selection available, with chicken, beef, lamb shanks, pork and ribs all available, plus two vegetarian options and one children's option.

If you're feeling a bit homesick, pop into the Captain's Cellar Bar and Restaurant on Pigeon Island. This classic old English restaurant is set inside a 200-year-old building and offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, created by the British couple who runs it. Open every day in February from 10am to 4pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and 10am until 11pm all other nights, this eatery serves pub grub style food, with sandwiches, soups, salads, shepherd's pie, bangers and mash, baked potatoes and chilli con carne for lunch and dinner.

Sports lovers won't want to pass up the chance to visit Turbulence Auto Sport Bar & Grill in Gros Islet. This bar has something for everyone a family-friendly atmosphere, popular music across various genres, DJs, dance floor, delicious freshly-prepared drinks, money-saving drinks specials, comfy outdoor seating and fresh food made to order on the outside barbecue on Friday nights.

Open from 6pm until 1am every night, Cane Bar is located inside Sugar Beach Resort and is the place to go for sophisticated surroundings and quality alcohol. This bars classy atmosphere will keep you coming back, with its luxury tall stools around the a curved bar and plush sofas around small tables. The drinks menu features aged rums, beers, whiskeys and other spirits and cocktails if you're not sure about rum, a personal 'rummelier' will be provided for recommendations. A sushi food menu is also available.

Things to do in St Lucia in February

The Tet Paul Scenic Trail is a must for walking and hiking enthusiasts in St Lucia. This walking trail is located in the south west of St Lucia in Soufriere and can be reached via a taxi ride. It only takes around 40 minutes to complete and is of low to medium difficulty, making it suitable for most ages and abilities. The most beautiful parts of the Tet Paul Scenic Trail are the various views of the Pitons with the sea in the background, so make sure you take your camera. The hike is done at a leisurely pace and your guide will tell you all about the plants, flowers and fruit which you'll pass along the way.

Sulphur Springs Park is home to the world's only drive-in volcano, situated in Soufriere. The volcano is the most active and hottest geothermal area in the Lesser Antilles and you can walk directly through the crater, passing by steaming hot springs some of which are large and safe enough to bathe in. In addition to the sulphur-laden hot springs, the natural park also features fumaroles and bubbling mud pools, many of which are hotter than 100°C. Tours of the Sulphur Springs Park take place several times each day and only last for around 30 minutes, making them suitable for families with young children.

The Toraille Waterfalls and Gardens are another natural attraction in Soufriere that you won't want to miss. Located just a short walk from the main road in Fond St Jacques, this waterfall gushes 15 metres down over a cliff face and splashes into a pool which lies in the centre of a landscaped garden. Changing rooms are provided so you can put on your swimming gear and have a swim in the pool, enjoying a natural massage from the waterfall at the same time. As well as the waterfall, the site is also home to a nature trail with bridges and walkways which wind through the tropical scenery.
