Sardinia has three airports receiving direct flights from the UK: Cagliari Airport (south coast), Olbia Airport (northeast coast) and Alghero (northwest coast).
However, many choose to fly to Malpensa Airport on mainland Italy, flying to the island by a small commuter plane. This is usually the cheaper option.
Sardinia also has four main ports: Cagliari (south), Arbatax (east), Olbia (northeast), Porto Torres (northwest). Regular ferries run between Sardiniaâs ports and mainland Italy.
Getting to and from the Airport
Shuttle buses are available between all airports and their respective cities.
Further public transport is easily accessible. Hotels should be able to advise the best method of transport, or provide a pick-up service.
Hire cars, taxis and private shuttle services are readily available.
