What's the Weather Like in Puerto Vallarta in March

Puerto VallartaMexico, starts to heat up even more in March as the city heads towards summer. The days get longer and temperatures soar, providing the perfect time to escape on an end of winter break where there's great beaches, oodles of sunshine, and plenty to do.

Temperature 

With daily average temperatures of 22°C, March in Puerto Vallarta is extremely pleasant. Thanks to its position close to the equator, the city experiences warm weather throughout the year and, at this time, you can even expect to see temperatures rise to 30°C and above during the hottest parts of the day. Average low temperatures sit at 14°C, meaning that the nights are still very warm for somewhere that is just coming out of winter. However, it's a good idea to pack layers, as shorts, t-shirts, and swimwear is ideal for the daytimes, but you might need an extra layer of warmth for when the temperatures drop slightly after dark. Remember to pack lots of suncream, too, as the sun is still very strong.

Rainfall

Unlike the previous two months, March sees barely any rainfall, with only around 7mm falling throughout the month on average. It's highly unlikely you'll get caught in any showers if you visit at this time of year, so it's not necessary to pack an umbrella save space for summer clothes instead. 

Sunshine Hours

As Puerto Vallarta marches towards the summer months, the days begin to get longer. In March there is around 11 hours of sunshine a day, providing plenty of time for you to explore the city and laze away days on the beach.

Sea Temperature

Tourists flock to Puerto Vallarta for the beaches, and in March the sea temperatures are a warm 24°C, offering perfect swimming conditions. The warm winter (November - May) breeze that comes off the Pacific is beginning to disappear in March, but it still provides some waves for keen watersports enthusiasts.

March in Puerto Vallarta is particularly pleasant, thanks to the new growth of flowers and plants, as well as the quickly rising temperatures and the longer, sun-filled days. It's the perfect time to visit if you're looking for some end of winter sun and beautiful beaches to go with it.

The rooms are a flurry of wood, with their own kitchens, seating areas, and spacious verandas. Plus there is a private beach, outdoor massage facilities, a swimming pool, and an on-site restaurant.

Hotel Posada de Roger

Hotel Posada de Roger is a typically Mexican affair in the downtown area. It's filled with vibrant colours, lots of plants, and ornate decorations. The apartments are set around a quiet, charming courtyard in the middle, each with stylish but simple design and with their own balconies offering views over the spectacular surroundings. In addition, there is a roof terrace with a swimming pool and an in-house restaurant serving gourmet cuisine.

Beaches for March for Puerto Vallarta

The beaches are one of the main draws for tourists who flock to Puerto Vallarta every year. The city is surrounded by stretches of soft, golden sand, and there is a rich marine life floating beneath the cobalt blue waters. Like with most places, there are busy beaches that are close by to the city, as well as some more secluded hotspots that lurk a little bit further away.

Las Gemelas Beach

Las Gemelas Beach is actually two beaches disguised as one. They are both semi-circular in shape and provide numerous activities like snorkelling and kayaking, as well as have sparkling blue waters and soft, white sand. The only difference is that one section is private, for paying visitors only, whilst the other is open to anyone and everyone.

Mismaloya Beach

Mismaloya Beach backs onto dense, jungle greenery, and is set at the foot of the mountains. It's a beautiful, secluded cove which offers visitors peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Plus, there're great views from the vantage points above the beach.

La Palapa is a stylish restaurant serving delicious gourmet cuisine. Set right on the beach with the option of dining on the sand if provides an intimate, romantic backdrop, and the menu is made up of fresh local dishes like tropical ceviche, duck enchiladas, lobster taquitos, and grilled beef tenderloin. La Palapa also has a lounge bar for enjoying a cocktail or two in the evenings.

Eco Ride

Puerto Vallarta is surrounded by amazing landscapes, with rising mountain scenery turning into dense jungle and, of course, the golden, sprawling beaches. One of the best ways to explore all that the area has to offer is by bike. You can book onto a one-day guided tour with Eco Ride, who'll show you all the best settings, and will inform you about the wildlife and ecosystems of the area. It's a great way to get up close and personal with Puerto Vallarta's nature whilst enjoying the glorious March weather.

Mercado de Artesanias

Head to the Mercado de Artesanias for a taste of all things arts and crafts in Puerto Vallarta. The street market sells everything from local artists' work, glass-blown ornaments, and hand-woven sandals, to handmade baskets, locally-sourced fabrics, and beautifully decorated wall-hangings. It's the perfect place to pick up an authentic souvenir or two, as well as learn more about the local crafts scene in the city.
