Weather
We have visited Nerja many times and on the odd occasion the weather can be atrocious. Very heavy rain with water rushing off the nearby mountains towards the sea. BUT this all soon dries up and within a day or two the mid teen, winter, temperatures and sun return to allow everyone to enjoy this idyllic Spanish seaside town.
Holiday
Despite the rain life goes on and the relaxing holiday atmosphere makes a visit to Nerja at any time of the year a delight.
Places Recommended
Granada is now directly accessible via the newly finished motorway and in less than an hour you can be in the the famous Alhambra Palaces or the Moorish El Albaicin in the Centre of this majestic City.

Fabulous! Have been in the height of summer when it was maybe too hot on occasion but plenty of shade if you look for it i.e. air conditioned bars. Also been in late October/early November just as the tide was turning. Maybe we were lucky, but still very pleasantly warm and beautiful and upon returning back to U.K. nearly got frostbite at airport.
Holiday
On every occasion, we could not wait to get there and were loathe to come home. I have been to Spain (many times), both mainland and islands and love the country but since I have gotten slightly older I much prefer to stay away from the package side of things and be independent and could not have chosen better! I found the locals to be very friendly, albeit if you don*t make the effort, then that is up to you-when in Rome etc.
Places Recommended
Balcon de Europe for wonderful views and also the cosmopolitan feeling and, superb food in the restaurants, from seafood and local tapas to egg and chips if that is your thing! I would certainly recommend the Caves de Nerja as it will take your breath away and if you have your own transport, then you must not miss a drive up to Sierra Nevada but be aware it can get very tricky but well worth it as it is spectacular. Too many places to mention in fact!

I had one drizzly day and one overcast. The rest were sunny at some point of every day. I had 22°C days and as cold as 12°C but in a shaded terrace (from the wind) I got a tan even in 14°C and it felt like summer.
Holiday
The people were almost exclusively Spanish that I met. The town is beautiful and there are enough sites to keep you occupied even without sunshine. I had some good food and some great food. There really is a choice of everything. There are also quite a few supermarkets locally, so very easy to eat on the cheap too. Of course, you could enjoy a huge 3 course lunch, with a beer, for between 8-9 euro.
Places Recommended
The lost village, without a doubt. Also the beach front barbecue restaurant and the little Italian restaurant. Make sure you visit Frigliana, lovely town with spectacular views. From there you may find directions for the lost village...maybe.

Weather
My wife and I have been to Nerja many times and the weather has always been sunny and warm. Last February we decided to have a long weekend there, fully expecting it to be cool and overcast. What a surprise! The temperature was 23c and wall to wall sunshine. Unfortunately we didn't pack any shorts or other suitable clothing.
We'll know better next time. At night it was cooler though and we needed a coat to walk around the streets. I'm told November to January is the coldest part of the winter there, but due to the protection of the mountains Nerja has a warm micro-climate all year round.
Holiday
In February the town is very quiet with many of the bars and restaurants closed. The good news is you can park your car much easier at that time of year. In the summer the town is packed and finding somewhere to park up can be a real problem.
The town is still very Spanish and there are few English or Irish bars. We went to some of the local places and the welcome was warm and friendly, as we have found every time we go there. We love wandering around the narrow streets and finding a quiet bar or restaurant. Quite often you will get free tapas with your drink.
The beaches aren't great but the town centre and balcony are beautiful places to sit watch the world go by.
Places Recommended
Frigiliana (not quite sure of the spelling) is a very pretty village up in the hills. There are the Nerja caves to visit too, well worth it.
Torrex is also nice. It has a long promenade to wander along by the beach. It is much flatter than Nerja so easier if you have any mobility problems.
Try the beach restaurants at the Burriana beach.
The paella is superb in every one we have been to. There's not much in the way of discos or night clubs so it is more for a family or couples holiday. We love it so much we intend to retire there. Can't say better than that.

Weather
The weather in the second week of November was quite good for the time of year.
During the day time, temperatures ranged from 23 degrees to 16 degrees.
In the evenings it got a bit chilly but not cold . Fleeces or something equivalent were required.
During our week we had a total of four hours rain.
Holiday
Nerja is a mixture of tourism and a working town.
It is certainly not as commercialised as the the other resorts at the Western end of Costa Del Sol.
The cobbled streets, full of Tapas bars, were interesting and the Balcony of Europe was most unusual.
There are several nice beaches here and some more lively bars if that is what you require, but in the main it was fairly peaceful.
It was also worth visiting the Caves, the Donkey sanctuary and the lovely village of Frigiliana, only a short local bus ride away, as was the resort of Torrax.
Places Recommended
Donkey Sanctuary, Caves,Frigiliana, Torrax and a days excursion to Granada
We also enjoyed a peaceful drink at Potters Bar near the Villa Flamenca Hotel

The temperatures were in the 30's most days, which was a lot warmer than we expected! Our son and his fiancee loved the heat, but we wrinklies found it a bit uncomfortable, especially at night. We didn't have airconditioning in the bedroom unfortunately.
Holiday
Just an hour's taxi ride from Malaga Airport, we stayed in a small villa, 2 kms outside Nerja. It's possible to walk into town along the beach, stopping at the beach bars along the way.
We didn't have a car, but the local taxi services were very reasonable (7 euros to town from Punta Lara) and extrememly efficient. I don't think we had to wait more than 3 minutes for one the whole week. Nerja is a lovely town.
The coastline is beautiful, with several beaches. The shops are great, there is even a 2 euro shop, vastly superior to our £ shops! The beach bars serve very good food - don't be put off by the ramshackle look of some of them.
The locals were friendly, and if you are homesick for Britain, there are several English and Irish bars. Find a bar which serves free tapas with the drinks. We recommend the one opposite the Hotel Monika, This hotel has a very attractive mosaic wall fronted by the biggest cacti we had ever seen.
Places Recommended
We took a taxi into Frigiliana, a whitewashed village up in the hills. Be warned, you need a good pair of legs for the all the steps! However, it is lovely with great views. We had intended visiting the caves, but didn't have time. However, we will definitely be going back to Nerja for a second visit.

We have learnt over the years that Nerja in July, August and even September can be too hot for us. We now go at the beginning of October for three weeks and find that generally the weather is great. Most days reach 25-26C with minimums rarely below 17-18. It does ocassionally rain, but rainfall is normally restricted to showers, which can be very heavy. However this does help to clear the air and half an hour after a shower everything is dry again.
Holiday
Superb. We always rent a villa in the area which means you can please yourself for meals and take the opportunity to dine out at some really great restaurants and cafes. We also always rent a car, which at the time we go, is very reasonable. We always use Economycarhire.com
Places Recommended
The Caves are fantastic and just a few minutes from Nerja centre. Also you MUST visit the Alhambra Palace in Granada, which is about 55 miles away. I would recommend that you visit Granada by car as if you go on an organised trip they tend to miss out most of the beautiful gardens of the Palace. The Palace itself is absolutely stunning so make sure to take your camera.

The weather in July and August is hot, but nice if you like it like that. It gets a bit windy towards the end of August.
Holiday
What can i say we love Nerja, our holiday is always great!! We love the beaches but they can get packed during summer time.
The food is lovely try out the tapas bars in the town, about 2.50 euros for a beer and small plate of tapas. It is so spanish in Nerja not like most of the other Costa del Sol places.
On the salon beach you can see the local fishermen bring in their catch early morning or late afternoon its great and they will sell the fish to you, we have had many a BBQ with out even going near the supermarket. All in all you will have a fantastic time in Nerja, our favorite place!!!

Weather
We have been going to Nerja for nearly twenty years now so you could say we love it !.There are so many resturants to choose from something to suit everybodys taste in the real Spanish Town Centre along the Barriana Beach to many to mention.
The weather has a very good reputation for being good even in the winter it is notoriosly known for it as the bad weather seems to get trapped behind the montains so the sun still shines.
Holiday
Nearly twenty years ago it was great we have seen lots of changes since then but we still love every minute of it and go five times a year so you could say we enjoy our holidays.
Our children and Grandchildren visit Nerja too they is something for all ages,
The Barriana Beach is lovely for children plenty of things for them to do.
