Maspalomas Beach for June

Maspalomas Beach is without a doubt one of the most popular beaches in Gran Canaria. This vast expanse of golden sand stretches all the way from Maspalomas lighthouse to Playa del Ingles. The beach is popular for all types of people from surfers to naturists. As Maspalomas beach is so long there is definitely enough room for everyone. There are also a number of amenities here which can be found towards the lighthouse including cafes, restaurants and small shops.

Bars and Restaurants

El Salsete is a delicious little Spanish restaurant located down Secundino Delgado Edificio Jovimar in Maspalomas. This highly recommended eatery serves a delicious array of fresh seafood and meat dishes, as well as a couple of vegetarian options. This is the perfect place to head to if you want to try some authentic Spanish cuisine with a modern twist.

However, if you're a fan of Italian food you may want to try the Mezzaluna Pizzeria Trattoria & Café, which is also situated in Maspalomas. This eatery serves mouthwatering homemade pizzas and pasta and even offers an outdoor terrace, which is great to sit out on in the summer months.

Restaurante El Churrasco Meloneras is one of the most popular restaurants in the area. This Argentinian steakhouse serves up some of the best steaks and wine you will ever try.

If you're looking for a drinking hole try Paddy's Irish Bar located on the beachfront in Maspalomas. They serve all the popular beers you would find back home in Britain, they even show the latest live sporting events on the TV at the bar such as the Premier League and the World Cup.   

Things to do in Maspalomas in June

ProSurfing Gran Canaria offers a wide range of water sports including paddle surfing, wakeboarding, kite surfing, jet skiing, surfing, diving and board rental. At this time of year the sea temperature is a positively warm 21°C, so you can definitely leave the wetsuit at home. Maspalomas offers superb conditions for water sports whether you're a beginner or consider yourself pretty experienced.

The Gran Karting Club in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria offers multiple go-karting tracks, which are appropriate for all abilities. The Karting club is located right next to the sea, offering wonderful surroundings. If you're little ones want to be the next Louis Hamilton then this is a great place to bring them to for a couple of hours.

However, if you're looking to visit somewhere where you don't have to fork out any money, La Charca may be just what you are looking for. La Charca is made up of two natural ecosystems including the Maspalomas Sand Dunes and the Maspalomas Pond. The pond is basically a coastal saltwater lagoon that was a former salt marsh. The area also attracts a large number of marine and birdlife.

On the other hand, Isango offers a number of tours in Maspalomas, including the highly popular Jeep and Camel Safari. This is a superb way to discover the hidden beauty of the island in a fun and unique way. The tour includes transportation as well as a packed lunch.

Dates for the diary

St John's the Baptist Day (San Juan) takes place every year on June 24th. This special event celebrates the history of Las Palmaas, with many traditional rituals and festivities, as well as open-air concerts, sporting events and theatrical performances. The day ends with bonfires and firework displays at various locations across the island of Gran Canaria.
