What's the weather like in Maspalomas in December

If the only concession to a white Christmas you want to make is the white of a sandy beach, then Maspalomas is an ideal place for you to travel on your winter holiday.

While the area enjoys warm and pleasant weather year round, the winter sun often proves to be a powerful incentive for visiting tourists, making it a top beach resort in the winter months.

As mentioned before Maspalomas is a very gay friendly resort. The Rainbow Golf Bungalows, Gay Men-Only Resort is a three-star complex located in a quiet and secluded area of Maspalomas. The resort offers a number of fully equipped and comfortable bungalows as well as an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub and refreshing sauna.

Dunas Mirador Maspalomas is located in the Sonnenland area of Maspalomas. This three-star hotel offers two outdoor swimming pools, sun loungers and a hot tub. The hotel also offers a restaurant that serves a variety of Spanish and International cuisine, as well as a poolside bar.

Maspalomas Beach for December

Maspalomas boasts one of the most stunning beaches on the whole island of Gran Canaria. The beach offers something for everyone, including restuarants, bars, cafes, watersports, sand dunes and even a lighthouse! The beach also features isolated and solitary sections where nudism is very popular. The nudist area can be found between beach bars three and four, which is more or less in the center of the beach. However, this beach is definitely welcome to everyone, it is not uncommon for walkers, surfers and nudists to mix freely on Maspalomas Beach.

Bars and Restaurants

If you're planning on staying in Maspalomas during December you may want to eat at one of the local restaurants to either enjoy a delicious full roast or traditional Gran Canarian meal.

Rustico is a Canarian restaurant which is usually open over the Christmas period. Often making sure to get out all the Christmas decorations every year, this lovely little eatery serves a wide array of Spanish and Canarian dishes, plus, their desserts are to die for!

Another place worth a try in Maspalomas is Samsara. Located at the Centro Comerical La Charca, this place offers international and Asian fusion cuisine. The restaurant boasts a contemporary and Far East décor and features an outdoor-seated area.

If you're looking for a memorable night out you may want to try La Bodega del Sur in Maspalomas. This lively tapas bar offers a wide array of mouthwatering cocktails for a very affordable price. They also show a wide variety of live sports shown at the bar including La Liga and the Barclays Premier League.

If you're here for New Year's Eve the Yumbo Shopping Centre in Playa del Ingles offers a large number of bars and nightclubs to choose from, including the Kiss FM Lounge Bar and Disco Mantrix.

Things to do in Maspalomas in December

During December Maspalomas is neither too hot nor too cold, which makes it a great time of year to play golf. The Salobre Golf and Resort offers two courses to choose from, offering breathtaking views over the neighbouring mountains and Atlantic Ocean. The resort features a number of facilities including a putting green and Pro shop. 

On the other hand, if you're here with the little ones you may want to take them to Holiday World in Maspalomas for at least one afternoon. This amusement park boasts a whole host of different rides and activities including a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, playgrounds, bowling alleys and even a 4D cinema.

Another place you may also want to take them to is Minigolf Yumbo, located at the entrance of Yumbo Shopping Centre in Playa del Ingles. The course features a series of entertaining and challenging holes. This miniature course is highly popular and is open seven days a week, from 10am until late.

A great way to explore the natural beauty of Gran Canaria is by horse. El Salobre Horse Riding offers a variety of horse riding treks out into the local countryside. The riding stables caters for all riding abilities and can be found just 10 minutes away from Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas.

Celebrate the festive season at Fiesta de Santa Lucia (Santa Lucia Festival) around mid-December at Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria. There are plenty of Christmas themed festivities happening around the city and across the island throughout the month.

The Canarians definitely love to party. On December 31st (New Year's Ever) there will be plenty of parties and events taking place across the island to celebrate the arrival of New Year.
