Weather for first couple of weeks of our holiday (mid-end May) was in low in 20 degrees, but soon up in the 30s by June.

Holiday

Nidri/Periagali are lovely small beaches and in early or late season are not crowded.
Pretty central for exploring the island by car or taking boat trips to Kefalonia, Ithaca or Meganissi (or further afield to Corfu).
Good choice of tavernas to try and very good prices.
Been a few times now, have 2 more trips already planned/booked.

Places Recommended

Boat trip to Kefalonia was great (did it twice).
Drove to Vassiliki for day out, very pebbly beach, but nice area and good taverna on beach.

I've been going since 1994, sometimes twice a year and I've never had a bad holiday.

Stayed at the Borsalino also Sophoies and Costas.

Great restaurants especially at the Appolon.

Quiet, relaxing and brilliant, which is why we've returned every year since 2004.
Lovely people, we've made some good friends over the years. We always stay in Nidri when we go.

Places Recommended

Just tour the island, where ever you go you will be made welcome. Catch the ferry over to Megannisi, as well as the ferry from Kefalonia from Vassiliki to the next resort to Nidri.

Weather first 2 days was slightly breezy but was a very welcome breeze as it was very hot.
Beaches are very hot - pebbly but nice all the same, we payed 5 euros for 2 beds and umbrella to the north of the resort

Holiday

We did 7 days on Lefkada before our transfer to Parga.
Stayed at Dimitra Apartments in Nidri which are located at the south of the resort.
we were surprised as i was expecting the apartments to be out of everything but was not
View from rooms were overlooking Scorpios Island and the boats
Rouge Booze bar within the grounds, very chilled music, draught beer was 3.5 euros for 500ml, prices vary but look around and you'l find it at 2, 2.5 euros
Room 15 we had so at the front (13, 14) also good rooms and another 4 in the middle cant remember the numbers
2 rooms face onto the main street road behind the beach front area, must admit if we were in them we would have asked to be moved, very noisy at night with all bikes etc, so we were v lucky
air con at 5 euros a night and whatever nites you want
Trips th meganissi, kefalonia, scorpios, ithaka etc daily from marina.
we went on the red boat ''eptannisos'' i think thats how it was spelt, also Nidri Star and Makedonia boats same trips, worked out at 35 euros for 2, good day out
Lefkas town, jump on thr bus, 1.40 euros
walk up to the waterfalls, signposted from main street, lovely walk, take plenty of water as it gets hot
Dimitris Restaraunt is also worth a visit for some food, follow signs for Paleokatouna, and its up there, walkable if fit, definately if you go there, wlak past it also bout 100 yards up is a bar called ''silenius'' - chap called Bill owns it, looks like someones drive and you would walk past it but there a sign, excellant, ive been looking for a place like that for years, a must if you are up that way
Marina front has plenty of bars etc and restaraunts - all pretty much similar price, though make sure you hunt out the ''Ionion Blue'', Past all big boats(trip ones) on your left past the chinese and its just on the right there bout 50 yards up, half the price of everywhere else and great food (and home made chips to die for)
all in all we thoroughly enjoyed are week the, a lot busier than we anticipated especially the road that runs parralle to beach and marina ares bout 30 yards back - very busy with cars and nikes weaving in and out, pretty safe though just keep your concentration
supermarkets, shop around as various prices
