Weather
Unusually cool for late May, hiowever the good news that in June the forecast is 29 C which is 84F. Summer has arrived at last.
Long hot days and great for the beach.
Praia da Luz has a super safe sandy beach
with several bars & restaurants ( try the Galley overlooking the beach, every table has a sea & beach view !
Look at the Luz Beach Apartments in Praia da luz, right overlooking the beach / A stones throw away and you do not have to be Ian Boitham.. !
Holiday
As I said little on the cool and widy side but getting better. Roll on June. But in spite of the cool spell its much much better that UK !
Places Recommended
Praia da Luz, Sagres, Cape st Vincwent
West Coast beaches, Monchiquue. Lagos.

Weather
Lagos / once the capital of the Algarve province has a distinct charm all of its own and the weather was wonderful.
Holiday
Excellent value, relaxing location, with a excellent variety of restaurants in Praia da Luz and Lagos.
For a change, drive to the West Coast for the day.
Our apartment in Luz (Luz Beach Apartments) provided us with a cool box, sunshade and also a body board all for free.
For accommodation look at: www.luzbeachapartments.com overlooking the promenade and beach.
Literally a stones throw from the apartments and easy walking distance to many small restaurants / two supermarkets, bus stop into Lagos town.
An ideal spot to relax.
Places Recommended
The river Bensifrim runs along side the town and provides an ever moving spectacle of fishing and tourist boats.
The old cobbled street in the town feature numerous bars, cafes and restaurants.
Just 10 minutes drive from Lagos brings you to Praia da Luz with Black Rock which is the very old remains of a volcano.
Super safe and sandy beach with numerous water sports in season.

Weather
As a family we stayed in Lagos from 27th June 2009 for a period of two weeks.
Weather was extremely good, mainly sunny with a few clouds. No rain.
Holiday
We stayed in an apartment block just behind the Marina near the main bus terminus.
Absolutely lovely location, 10 minutes walk to the beach, 5 minutes walk to the shops, bars, restaurants etc.
A 20 minutes walk to Dona Ana Beach, which I consider to be the the nicest of the beaches in the vicinity.
Plenty of lovely restaurants serving local fish - plain, simple, tasty meals at a reasonable price.
Little shops to window shop.
There are plenty of buses running if you do not have a car (which in our opinion is not necessary) so you can get around the Algarve fairly cheaply.
The town is never that busy, it is mostly paved and very safe for pedestrians. You can browse the shops and always find a restaurant to eat in.
Places Recommended
Beaches a must......
Portimao only a 15 minute train ride away (station just back from Marina) if you are a serious shopaholic.
A couple of restaurants I can recommend are Barros and Blue Doors, which are right in the centre of town.
Have a coffee and cake in any of the Marina Cafes, sat outside watching the boats come in and out is so peaceful and of course you can always people watch.
