Weather

I have been in November, December, March and April, and you get the odd overcast day, but usually great.

Holiday

I travel alone and like the laid back way of life there, like me it is very lazy.

Places Recommended

Sercunda shopping market area. Go inside the enclosed areas.

Senagambia strip at night for good food at good prices. If not there are plenty of cafes and bars on side streets. It is also safe.

Weather

We were there 26th Feb and the weather was perfect. It was hot with sunny days and warm evenings.

We were on the beach during the day and there was a nice breeze, it was very hot around the pool.

Holiday

Our holiday was very chilled and totaly relaxing.

We stayed at the Kairaba Hotel and have no complaints at all. The staff were fab and the food was great.

We did eat out on the strip at some lovely places including Green Mamba and Scarlas Jojos to name a few.

The locals were friendly. We had a trip out with a taxi driver and had a brilliant day. He took us to see the real Gambia, a truth Gambian gent.

All in all we could not fault any part of our holiday and have booked for next year already.

Places Recommended

We went to the Crocodile Pool, Lemin Lodge, a fishing village, Paradise Beach and to a compound to see have the Gambian people really live. Their welcome was amazing.

We also visited a school right out in the heart of Gambia. The children were great, what a welcome we got. Last year we visited a school near to the resort, what a difference this year, the kids have nothing but I have never seen kids so happy, as were the adults, now I know why the Gambia is called the smiley coast of Africa.

Weather

Me and my husband stayed at the Senagambia Hotel in Kololi.

The weather was good, we had a couple of overcast days but it was still very warm.

The sun usually appeared around 10 am and stayed untill 5 pm.

Holiday

This was are first time to Gambia, and we were not disappointed.

The hotel was great, the rooms basic but clean. Clean towels and pool towels were changed daily as was the bedding. There was no kettle in the room and I was so glad I took our own. Plug sockets are 2 pin, and the water was always hot at any time of the day.

We found the hotel quite expensive to eat and drink in compared to the places we went to outside our hotel.

The grounds of the hotel were lovely and clean, as were the swimming pools.

The local people are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. The bumsters on the strip will hound you for a couple of days but they do get to know your face and leave you alone. A firm polite no is the answer.

The beach is lovely and you do get the occasional sellers who are quite chatty and will walk with you and educate you on thier country.

We didnt go in the sea often as the current was very strong at times. We will definately be going back sooner rather than later.

Places Recommended

The places we would recomend would have to be the creek fishing trip. What a great day.

The resturants would have to be Yasmina at the top of the strip, we met a great waiter there called Andrew and La Romantica next door. The food delicious and very reasonable. Didnt like the Indian resturant much and the chinese was very good. The green Mamba was excellent as was the african queen.Ali Babas was ok.

The monkey park is just 5 mins walk from the hotel on the beach, but you will also see monkeys round the pool at lunchtime. They are very friendly and will take monkey nuts from your hand. Theres plenty to see and do in Gambia or you can do as little as you like.
