It is 15 minutes away from the city centre but offers great food and cocktails from the owner of the accommodation. It has been known that owner makes the best mojitos in town so is definitely worth a stay. The exterior of the hotel is beautifully decorated in vibrant colours to match the beautiful vibrant atmosphere inside the hotel.
A very charming place to stay is at the popular Casa Particular Oscar Guerra which is in a great location in the Holguin city centre. It is run by the owner and his wife who are very friendly and welcoming and will make you feel right at home. They will also give you great information on the best places to visit and best places to eat. Whatever you need to make your stay that bit better, the casa managers will. They are also 'in the know' and will have some great local deals if you ask.
Things to do
Because of the beautiful tropical weather and hot temperatures, it is a great time to discover the many parks that are in Holguin. One of those parks is Parque Peralta (Parque de las Flores) which has an inspiring monument in the centre of the square. There is shade available to avoid the burning midday sun and shelter in case it begins to rain.If you want a relaxing day out, then taking a long stroll through this park i perfect.
To really get a glimpse into the history and culture of Holguin, visit the Cathedral of San Isidoro (La Catedral de San Isidro) which is truly amazing. You will not want to leave once you visit as there are stunning views to be seen all around. If you book a guide then you will get to learn all about the history of the city and its cathedral.
Eating & Drinking Out
A very chic and authentic place to eat is Bambu which is a Cuban restaurant whose food is cooked to absolute perfection. It is a small restaurant that is a real gem of a find with many who have visited recommending it. If you're looking for the real Cuban experience then this is the place to go.
Another great restaurant to visit during your stay is the El Eden which also serves the local cuisine. The food is very nice and as are the staff who will bend over backwards to make sure you have a great time. The price is very fair for both the food and the delicious choice of drinks.
If it is a great atmosphere you want then you must go to the Restaurante Bar Parrillada San Jose where you will not only have a great time but will also enjoy their great food. The grilled rabbit comes highly recommended.
