Christmas Markets – Málaga, Marbella & Torremolinos 🏪
Open-air markets sell crafts, ornaments, and seasonal sweets such as turrón and polvorones. Málaga’s Muelle Uno and Marbella’s Alameda Park host the largest markets. Children’s rides, live choirs, and street performers contribute to a festive atmosphere throughout the month.

New Year’s Eve (Nochevieja) 🎉
Celebrations fill city squares and beach promenades from Málaga to Fuengirola. Tradition calls for eating twelve grapes at midnight for good luck, followed by fireworks and live music. Hotels and restaurants host gala dinners, while Marbella’s marina and Benalmádena’s port hold open-air parties until dawn.

New Year’s Day (Año Nuevo) 🎉
Celebrations continue from New Year’s Eve with beachfront brunches and fireworks across the Costa del Sol. Many locals and visitors take part in the traditional first swim of the year, known as the “baño de año nuevo,” in resorts such as Marbella and Torremolinos.

Three Kings Parade (Cabalgata de Reyes) – Málaga 🛐
Los Reyes Magos is celebrated throughout the Costa del Sol each January, but the best events take place in Malaga. On the evening before the official holiday (January 5th) the Three Kings arrive by boat and parade throughout the streets from the port along Paseo del Parque on decorated floats, handing out sweets and small toys to the children watching. On the official day of the holiday (January 6th) most banks, shops and supermarkets will be closed whilst families celebrate at home - this day is the Spanish equivalent of Christmas Day.

Epiphany (Día de Reyes) 🗓
Families exchange gifts and enjoy “Roscón de Reyes,” a ring-shaped cake filled with cream or fruit. Shops close for this national holiday as processions and church services mark the visit of the Magi. Restaurants along the coast serve special Epiphany menus.
