Weather
We love visiting the Christmas Markets in Bremen each December, having done this now for the past four years. The temperature is usually freezing at this time of years and there is often snow which adds to the festive feel.
Nowhere does Christmas Markets quite like Germany, so much detail and atmosphere.
We have also visited in the height of summer and then the weather is scorching!
Holiday
There is a lot to do in Bremen for all ages. Depending on your budget,we have stayed at the airport hotels which are amazingly cheap if you book in advance (Holiday Inn is excellent). There is a tram stop just outside the airport which takes you into the city centre in around ten minutes.
We have stayed at the Hilton, which is very central and has an excellent swimming pool, sauna and gym.
Advice? book a Ryanair flight (takes only around an hour to get from Stansted to Bremen) well in advance and the deals can be very cheap.
We have taken grandchildren with us from toddler upwards and can honestly say that due to the short flight and near proximity of all the things you like to do, it is not usually the exhausting venture you expect taking children that young away!
Places Recommended
Visit the Snoor- an old part of the city and home to the all year round Christmas Shop.Drink Becks in the Market Square (Becks is the local beer as it is brewed nearby).
Try the local pubs, which are full of character and many of the eateries near the river are superb and suit any budget.
My husband and I travel a lot and Bremen is perhaps the best place we have ever visited.
