Hot and steamy but not unbearable.We had a couple of afternoon rain storms which lasted about 1/2 an hour.
Holiday
A great experience, we traveled with Wild Life Expeditions, my husband and I were the only ones on the tour, we had a driver and guide. These changed as we headed over land, each were very interesting and capable, their english was quite good. Our tour took us to the Mt Kinabalu, Poring Hot Springs, Gomantong Caves, Sukau River, for river cruises looking for wild life and birds. Liberan Island, and Selingan Island for the turtle experience. Back to Sandakan and on to Sepilok to the orang utan centre. We hired the driver and guide for a quick trip to the memorial park which is the site of a japanese concentration camp, during ww11.Then we flew back to Kota Kinabalu.
The Wild Life Lodges are basic but spotlessly clean.
Places Recommended
We felt that we would rather have had 2 nights at Selingan Island as there is not much to do on Liberan Island and it is a bit run down. The beach at Selingan is much nicer and you can snorkle from the beach. The lodges have been up graded and have ensuites and hot water The food is good there also. The food at Sukau river lodge was excellent.Recommend Borneo to others
