The "Ribat" is a well-maintained monastery and fortress from the 8th Century making it one of the oldest buildings in Sousse. Learn more about Sousse's rich history as you hear the story of soldier monks who took in travelers to teach them the Koran. Located in the northeast corner of the Medina, you'll know it by its soaring watchtower. For an additional small fee, you can take pictures while you visit which you'll want to do to capture the panoramic views from the top. Wear your walking shoes, though; it will take you more than 75 steps to get up there.
Dar Am Taieb is a favorite of families' with children. An artistic phenomenon, this attraction offers art, sculpture, mosaics, decorations and songs as well as refreshments intended to please all viewers. Adults will love the marble works and pictures. This is not your traditional art adventure; many of the pieces are exquisitely strange and the Dar Am Taieb is known for being an eclectic experience.
