Sardinia Beaches For June

Maria Pia

Alghero is located in the north of the island is a very popular spot during the summer months. Maria Pia Beach is of course one of the main pulls, a beautiful sandy beach, which is backed by lush green pine woods. Here you can kick back and relax in total natural beauty.

Porto Conte Bay

Alternatively, you could head to Porto Conte Bay which is just a short journey from Alghero. Lazzaretto also has beautiful beaches, with views over to La Bombarde have your camera ready for that one!

Bars And Restaurants

Let's face it, Italian food is possibly the world's best. You can argue all you like, but most people when confronted with the question of which nationality of food they prefer, will say Italian, or at least have it in their top two. Because of that, gastronomy is big business in Sardinia, and rightly so!

Ristorante Martinelli

In Cagliari, the choice of restaurants is mind-blowing, but Ristorante Martinelli's is a favourite. The small, intimate surroundings are perfect for sampling new dishes, with a classy edge. Perhaps wash it all down with a glass of local wine too.

I Quattro Morsi

Another classy choice in the capital is I Quattro Morsi, where you can try Italian dishes with a modern twist for something a little different.

Il Vecchio Mulino

If you are visiting Sassari for your holiday, or perhaps as a pit-stop to somewhere else, Il Vecchio Mulino should be somewhere you call in at. Rustic surroundings greet you, with a very simple feel, but this is often where you find the best in the way of food.

Things To Do In Sardinia In June

Neptune's Caves

Many people aren't aware that below the ground in Sardinia there are a network of more than 300 caves, and one which you can explore quite easily by excursion is Neptune's Caves. This is handily located just off the coast of Alghero, and were discovered back in the 18th century. Here you will see eerie-looking stalactites and stalagmites and an underground lake. For natural sights, you won't get better than this.

Tharros

Maybe it's not nature you're into, but history instead, and in that case you need to be heading to Tharros in the west of the island. This is an ancient city with many ruins to explore, which was finally handed over to the Romans, having been discovered way back in 730BC by the Phoenicians. This is very well preserved considering its age, and will thrill history buffs.

Cala Goloritze

One particular part of the coastline you should definitely be seeing before the crowds arrive is the stunningly beautiful Cala Goloritze on the east coast. Water so blue you won't believe it's real and natural sights to blow your mind, this is one of the most idyllic and picturesque parts of the whole of Sardinia.
