Things to do in Playa Taurito in February
Playa Taurito's prime location makes it a great base to explore the small island of Gran Canaria. February is an excellent time for a day trip, when temperatures aren't too hot.
Palmitos Park is just a 40 minute bus ride from Playa Taurito. Covering 20 hectares, the botanical garden and aviary is home to a wealth of cacti and succulent plants as well as a variety of exotic bird species. There are also monkeys, crocodiles, an orchid house, an aquarium and Europe's largest butterfly house for visitors to enjoy.
Alternatively, the capital of Las Palmas is just an hour away and offers holiday makers a vibrant contrast to Playa Taurito's tranquil setting. The Cathedral of Santa Ana is a must-see attraction, located in the historical and cultural district of Vegueta. There are also a wealth of high end shops, boutiques, markets and winding streets full of cafés and tapas bars where holiday makers can spend a day.
Carnaval is celebrated in Las Palmas during the month of February and is a great thing for tourists to experience. The city is full of colour and sound at this time of year, with election of the Carnival Queen, singing competitions, parades and much more.
