Hurricanes aside, if you are a fan of warm temperatures, June is the best month to visit seeing as it is the hottest month of the year for Ocho Rios.

With these higher temperatures it is very important to maintain your water intake, as you will very easily become dehydrated. Sun, sand, surf and palm trees sums up the beach at the Jamaica Grande. Approximately 5 minutes from central Ocho Rios, the beach is private and can only be accessed by guests of the hotel. Defining themselves as "the Caribbean's newest and most breath-taking venue", Oceans on the Ridge is the perfect place to enjoy a meal at any time of the day! Because of the restaurants location being slightly elevated, the air usually feels a little cooler and sometimes takes the edge off the summer heat experienced in the town area.

10 minutes' drive east of Ocho Rios, hidden away in one of the few remaining natural scenic bays, Sugarpot Ruins Beach Bar & Restaurant is a small restaurant with plenty of character. The restaurant specializes in local and seafood dishes. Adding to the experience and keeping it authentic, the food is prepared as per Jamaican tradition, on an open fire. You will also have first-class seats to a beautiful view of the bay from the restaurant.

Things to do in Ocho Rios in June

Featuring a culture that is deeply embedded in music, June is jazz month in JamaicaThe Jamaica International Jazz Festival is an annual festival held in Ocho Rios, that has been developed to promote and showcase Jamaican and Caribbean jazz musicians and artists. For fans of jazz music, or anyone who enjoys music, the jazz festival is a must. The festival is held over several days at various locations. Event prices vary, including some with free access.

One of the oldest buildings in Ocho Rios, Ocho Rios Fort was originally built in the 17th century. It has recently been renovated, however, houses two of the cannons from the original structure. Weather permitting, it is worth taking a stroll to Columbus Foot Beach, from where you should easily find the fort.

For the more adventurous thrill seekers, Mystic Mountain offers a variety of attractions. As its name suggests, most of the attractions are based on a mountain and usually involve heights. A bobsled ride is the favourite, weaving and twisting down the mountainside. There is also a chair lift and canopy zip line for those who are looking for a thrill. Later on in the day you can relax in the infinity pool, or for more action, take a ride down the mystic water slide.
