Festival de Jardins do Funchal (Funchal Garden Festival) 🪴
Funchal’s Garden Festival transforms parks, squares and promenades into colourful open-air exhibitions. Landscape designers and horticultural groups build themed gardens using local and exotic plants. Visitors can stroll through creative floral installations, attend gardening workshops and learn about Madeira’s unique biodiversity. Madeira Flower Festival 🪴
The Flower Festival is Madeira’s most famous event, filling Funchal with colour and fragrance. The highlight is the Allegoric Flower Parade, featuring floats decorated with thousands of blossoms. Festas da Sé 🎡
The Festas da Sé are held in Funchal, when the streets which surround the local cathedral burst into life with street parties, music concerts, folk dancing and instrumental performances. Various restaurants in Rua de João Tavira, Rua dos Ferreiros, Rua do Bispo, Rua da Queimada de Baixo and Rua da Queimada de Cima also offer traditional Madeiran menus with local food and wines. Most of the activities and events take place between 7.30pm and midnight.
