    Lanzarote Beach for October

    In October, the sea water retains the warm temperatures from summer, making it a great month to hit the beach.

    Caletón Blanco

    Caletón Blanco is one of the best secluded beaches on the island, ideal for sunbathing and swimming. This beach is actually made up of a collection of small bays of white sand where adults can sunbathe and warm rock pools teeming with aquatic wildlife which children can explore. The water at Caletón Blanco is incredibly clear, making it a top spot for snorkelling. There are no facilities available in the immediate area, so you'll need to take your own food, drink and shade with you.

    Famara Beach

    The stunningly beautiful Famara Beach is a large curved bay known as "surfers paradise". Located on the north west coast of the island, it occupies kilometers of beach and the beach is backed by gorgeous pink cliffs that form the highest point of the island. It is ideal for surfing, windsurfing and kiteboarding. It is located away from all the resorts and the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts. The beach has beautiful fine sand and the largest waves in Lanzarote making it immensly popular with surfers. There are no bars or amenities on the beach however the nearby fishing village of La Caleta de Famara  has some small cafes, a couple of restaurants and a surf shop. 

    The Playa de Papgayo

    This group of 5 beaches are made up of long stretches of fine sand seperated by cliffs. The Playa de Papgayo are part of the protected area Monumento Natural de los Ajaches. The beaches are spectaculiar in their beauty and are accessible by a dirt road or a taxi boat from Playa Blanca Harbour. The small challenge of getting to these beautiful beaches is worth it once you experience the crystal clear emerald green water and unspoilt surroundings.

    La Cocina De Colacho

    La Cocina De Colacho serves up a variety of different food but the most popular by far is the five-course set menu, which changes every week. Dishes range from steak with calvados and jus, and fish loin with a gin and tonic are a regular occurance. You are also presented with Lanzarotes finest wine due to the restaurants Wine Warehouse. 

    Marea Terraza Lounge Bar

    If you are looking for a place to let your hair down, Marea Terraza Lounge Bar serves fantastic coktails along with live music every night. You're encouraged to dance, (should you be brave enough) and the atmosphere is lively and enjoyable. 

    El Navarro

    El Navarro is a popular choice amongst travellers who are lookng for wonderful food. The restaurant is small and elegant with the dishes being presented beautifully. Every dish is prepared using local ingredients - if you are lucky enough to be in Lanzarote, you must try this restaurant. 

    El Risco

    If you are in the La Caleta de Famara you must try this delicious fish restaurant. It has a  simple interior and fresh local food, delicous fresh fish dishes and canarian specialities. From El Risco's pretty little terrace you can watch the windsurfers. 

    What is there to do in Lanzarote in October 

    Sport Fishing Lanzarote

    October and September are the best months of the year for big game fishing in Lanzarote. Sport Fishing Lanzarote organises a number of big game fishing excursions from the port at Puerto Del Carmen. During October, you can expect to catch tuna, white marlin, blue marlin, dorado, wahoo, dentex, barracuda, amberjack and snapper.

    The Dive Centre

    If you've ever wanted to get up-close and personal with a shark, sign up for a diving excursion during your holiday in Lanzarote. October marks the start of the angel shark season in the waters surrounding the Canary Islands. The Dive Centre based in Puerto del Carmen offers a huge selection of diving courses and excursions, including those specifically designed to seek out angel sharks. If diving is a bit too intense for you, you'll be pleased to hear that the Dive Centre also offers a number of snorkelling trips to choose from.

    Raven's Volcano

    With the temperatures slowly cooling down, October is a great month to enjoy a walk or hike. The trek up Raven's Volcano is one of the most popular on the island and allows you to get really close to the crater of an active volcano something which you'll struggle to do anywhere else in the Canary Islands. You can choose to visit the volcano as part of a tour, but if you enjoy having the freedom to go off and explore in your own time, you're best off hiring a car and visiting the site on your own. Don't forget to take a good pair of trainers or walking boots, food, drinks and your camera.

    Jardín de Cactus

    The possibility of cloud coverage increases as October progresses. If you're unfortunate enough to have an overcast day during your holiday and don't know what to do, why not visit Jardín de Cactus? This cactus museum-garden is home to more than 10,000 plants from over 1,450 different species from the Canary Islands, America and Madagascar, all of which were brought to Lanzarote by a botanicals expert. Whether you're into gardening or not, Jardín de Cactus is a pleasant way to while away an hour or two on a cloudy afternoon.
