Daily highs vary only slightly throughout January, starting off at 16°C and dropping down to 15°C, rarely exceeding 18°C or falling below 12°C. Daily low temperatures follow a very similar pattern and fall from 9°C at the beginning of the month down to 8°C by the end, only rising above 13°C or dropping below 5°C one day out of every ten.

In recent times, the highest temperature ever recorded for January in Ibiza is 25°C, with the coldest temperature ever recorded for this month being -1°C. When you look at these temperatures alongside the average for the month – 12°C – it's easy to see that they're the extremes and certainly aren't what you should be prepared for during your holiday.

Ibiza is subject to an average of 42mm of rainfall spread across ten days throughout January, which means the chance of you experiencing a shower or two during your holiday is high, so play it safe and pack some waterproof clothing.

Things to do in Ibiza in January

The Kentucky Derby in Es Cana is something the whole family can enjoy together. Three Kings’ Celebrations

6th January 2019 to 25th January 2019

The Three Kings’ Celebrations begin on the evening of January 5th when there are parades throughout all the towns on the island, including the Port of Ibiza and Port of San Antonio. These parades feature three locals dressed as kings who ride through the streets on large floats followed by marching bands and helpers who throw sweets into the crowd. The parades are followed by traditional nativity plays and huge firework displays after sunset. January 6th is the main day of the holiday, which is usually celebrated quietly at home.

7th January 2019 to 18th January 2019

San Antionio is the Patron Saint of animals and people honour him on this day by taking their pets along to their local churches to have them blessed by priests. The blessing is followed by special masses, street processions and the release of doves. Street parties are also held in villages across Ibiza on this day (although the biggest party takes place at San Antonio) with folk dancing, live music, competitions, games and plenty of local food and drink.
