June Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

June marks the end of the tourism high season in Granada, but the beginning of summer weather. The temperatures are rising, particularly at mid-day and the days are becoming longer. The rising temperatures and strong sun encourage locals and visitors alike to enjoy siesta, and warm evenings are perfect for a pitcher of sangria on one of Granada's many terraces.

Granada is crowded this month of the year, but it is also an exciting time to visit with festivals and parades taking place all month long.

In fact, things are heating up across Spain, both with higher temperatures and the onset of festival season throughout the country. It is during June that visitors can experience Spanish celebrations steeped in Granada's religious and cultural history.

The average temperature reaches 20°C (68°F), with the start of June being cooler and more mild, and the end of the month feeling quite warm during the day and pleasant throughout the evening. The trend of comfortable evenings and hot afternoons continues throughout the summer months of July and August.

The average high temperature is 27°C (81°F) and the average low temperature is 13°C (55°F). The difference in the high and low due as much to the change in weather from the start to the end of June, as to the temperature changes throughout a given day.

Visitors can expect very little rainfall during the month of June. With only an average of 5 rain days throughout the month, most days of the month are sunny and often cloudless. The city only receives an average of 26 mm of precipitation, about 10 mm less than during the month of May.

An average of 11 hours of sunlight each day in June, ensure that the days are long and dusk settles later and later in the day. It is a great time of year to catch sunset with a drink or tapa in hand.

When the heat and tourism season pick up in June, a guest experience is greatly improved by a helpful and knowledgeable hotel staff. Lucky for those who choose to stay at La Posada de Quijada, the staff is known to be particularly helpful in pointing guests away from the tourist traps and towards local and authentic restaurants and tapas. It is impossible not to feel calm amongst the cosy spaces and terraces of this hotel. The 5 guest rooms are quaint, but the attention to detail is outstanding. It is the phenomenal staff at this hotel that makes it a true gem among the accommodation options in Granada.

Gar-Anat Hotel de Peregrinos proudly declares that it is, "not just a hotel," and visitors can immediately appreciate the truth of this statement. The unique hotel is housed in a renovated pilgrim's hospital, and many of the design and décor decisions retain the religious and historical features of this prior use.

Each room is distinctively decorated, and for a fee guests can enjoy breakfast in the vaulted cellar of this old building. While the hotel itself only opened in 2008, guests will feel they are among years of rich and interesting history during a stay at Gar-Anat Hotel de Peregrinos.

Grandiose and impressive in its size, the Sercotel Gran Hotel Luna de Granada is a luxury hotel directly off the highway at the edge of central Granada. Sercotel Gran Hotel Luna de Granada offers all the amenities of an upscale hotel, including an onsite restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and spa. The guest rooms are modern and the facilities well maintained. This 4-star hotel is perfect for those who want the ease offered by the professional and trained staff of a large hotel or those looking to hold an event or function in Granada.

Around an hour's drive from Granada and ideally located in a bay on Spain's Costa Tropica, La Herradura is a sandy beach protected from the wind and rougher waters. While La Herradura is at the heart of Costa Tropica's tourism activity, this sunny part of Spanish coast is far less crowded than the famous Costa del Sol.

La Herradura is a wonderful option for visitors who need to escape the rising June temperatures and early summer heat of Granada. The town itself is set just beyond the sand, and has a few restaurants and bars for those who want to have lunch or dinner before returning to Granada. As well, water sports are popular at La Herradura, with several companies offering dive trips and equipment rental.

The warm evenings of June are perfect for sundowners with a view. There are few better terraces than that at Mirador de Morayma.  The interior of this adorable restaurant is filled with exposed wooden beams and framed portraits on the walls. The terrace is mostly shaded by the surrounding trees, and remains cool throughout the day. Then, there is the sweeping view of the Alhambra. The idyllic setting of Mirador de Morayma is not to be missed while on holiday in Granada.

When it comes to views, the one from Huerto de Juan Ranas is undeniably fantastic. The restaurant is set within Mirador de San Nicolas and offers stunning views of the Alhambra, which sits on the hillside opposite. The venue has terraces and lounges, making it the perfect location for grabbing a quick drink before siesta, lingering over a meal or sipping their famous gin and tonics at sunset.

When the sun has set and night settles across Granada, it is time for the evening meal.  The Spanish dine late, and it is typical for dinner to last past midnight. However, even at this hour the night hardly needs to end. Head to El Camborio. This discotheque offers a truly unique environment for partiers as it has amazing view of the Alhambra. The setting can literally not be replicated anywhere else in the world. It might be Granada's most well known club, but it is for a reason.

The month of June is a special time to visit Granada. The weather is warm, without being stifling and there are a number of amazing events to keep visitors busy.

June whirls into Granada with the Corpus Christi Festival. A celebration to commemorate the Christian belief that Jesus Christ is present in holy water is rooted in religious tradition, but today, the party is larger than the religious fervor. The festival is a weeklong event, complete with parades and carnivals. There are celebrations across Andalucía and Spain, from small towns to larger cities, but the most famous festival is held right in central Granada.

Each year, the International Festival of Music and Dance of Granada takes place in late June. The festival is held in venues across the city, including the Alhambra, and pays homage to culture, history and artistry. Performances include everything from traditional Spanish flamenco, to orchestra performances, to dance performances. Thousands of visitors come to Granada at this time of year, so booking accommodation in advance is important, but this is one city that knows how to handle the crowds and party that accompanies them.
