The average afternoon high temperature is a very comfortable 24°C. At night, the mercury drops to an average low of 16°C. Things to do in Fethiye in May
Tomb of Amyntas
This beautiful city is also the home of the Tomb of Amyntas, which is a massive tomb that was built in 350 BC. Arguably Fethiye's most recognisable historic landmark, this large tomb contains intricate carvings that are worth checking out.
Also in May are a variety of events. The biggest street party in Fethiye, the Calis Carnival, happens in May. During this exciting and famous party, there are performances, craft exhibits, workshops, parties, and even an extravagant parade.
Another well-known Fethiye event during May is Oil Wrestling. Throughout the month of May, sometimes in Fethiye and other times in towns nearby, oil wresting events take place. This popular activity is actually a national sport in Turkey. Oil wrestling involves wrestlers dousing themselves with olive oil before wrestling. Checking out an oil wrestling event is a great way to experience something that makes the country of Turkey so uniquely special.
If you're looking for a day trip from Fethiye, you may want to consider driving to Koycegiz Village. This traditional Turkish village lies about an hour's drive from the resort on the shore of gorgeous Lake Koycegiz. This is a relaxed place with atmospheric streets lined with cafés and restaurants.
