Virgen del Sufragio Festival 🏰

This religious festival honours Benidorm’s patron saint, the Virgin of Suffrage. The event dates back to the 18th century when a mysterious image of the Virgin was discovered on the shore. The celebration includes a solemn mass, processions through the old town, and the offering of flowers at the Church of San Jaime y Santa Ana. Though spiritual in nature, it’s also a cultural highlight that reflects Benidorm’s deep-rooted traditions.

Fallas Festival 🎡

Borrowed from nearby Valencia, the Fallas Festival is a spectacular event celebrated in Benidorm with impressive papier-mâché figures called ninots. These sculptures are paraded through the streets and later set ablaze in fiery displays on Saint Joseph’s Day. Expect fireworks, traditional music, and plenty of Valencian cuisine, such as buñuelos and paella. The burning of the fallas represents renewal, making this one of the most dramatic festivals of the year.
