Despite the quieter month of January, there are still many hotels open in Sunny Beach, and many cater for the New Year's celebrations.

Hotel L & B is a great choice, very close to the beach and in a central position for the resort's main amenities. A large swimming pool and hotel restaurant make your stay more comfortable, in a relaxing atmosphere.
Barcelo Royal Beach Hotel
Alternatively, Barcelo Royal Beach Hotel is a five star option with plenty of sparkle, right on the beach front, offering many different board types, including all inclusive, which is useful during the quieter time of the year.
Park Continental Hotel
Park Continental Hotel is also another good choice, a little out of the main resort centre, but easily accessible; there is a mini train which stops outside the hotel, and is a fun way to get out and about.
Beaches for January for Sunny Beach
Cacao Beach
You probably won't be sunbathing and swimming during January in Sunny Beach, but you can enjoy the wilderness of a winter landscape to the max. Sunny Beach's main stretch of sand is called Cacao Beach, and during the summer months it is teeming with life, however during the winter months it is a place of solace, perfect for a winter walk.
Restaurants and Bars for Sunny Beach in January
Park Continental Hotel
The downside of visiting Sunny Beach out of season is that there isn't as many bars and restaurants open during this time, compared to the height of summer. That doesn't mean there aren't any however, and many of these are situated in the hotels which remain open all year around. Park Continental Hotel offers several dining options, including the rather fantastic Restaurant "Orient", which is a must try.
If you head out into the resort itself you will find a few local restaurants open, and this is the ideal time to try something a little more authentic and traditional. Bulgarian food on the whole is hearty and ideal for this time of year when the temperatures are a little cooler.
Things to Do in Sunny Beach in January
The first month of the year brings New Year celebrations to Sunny Beach, and although you won't find crowds at this time, you will find locals enjoying their own celebrations in and around the resort. Nearby Bourgas will have more in the way of life at this time, and is only a short bus ride away from Sunny Beach itself.
Mall Galleria Burgas
Bourgas is certainly worth an exploration, and is the fourth largest city in the country. It's a good time to head here, especially whilst the temperatures are cooler, with entertainment options on offer, such as Platinum Casino for a little flutter, and shopping malls to grab some bargains. Mall Galleria Burgas is a particularly popular place to head for a spot of retail therapy.
Nesebar Village
A little closer to resort itself is Nesebar Village, and for anyone into history and architecture, this is the place to go. The lower temperatures make for the perfect time to explore the ancient and historic region, with a chilled-out and romantic feel to the place. The old town is connected to the mainland by a narrow walkway and you will find maze-like cobblestone lanes, tiny squares, and old, characteristic buildings to explore. This area certainly draws the crowds during the peak summer months, so exploring whilst it's quieter is a great idea.
